I have to buil two "levels". But they will be 2x3 cages, but with one stacked ontop of the other with a door on the side for both cages. Does that make sense, and is it okay to do? Has anyone ever done that before?

How many pigs do you have? If they are connected that is fine for two, there should be several photos of that particular setup in the gallery.

The size of the main level has to be determined by how many pigs you have. Your profile says you have 3. You need to have the main level at least 2x4 for 3 pigs. Upper levels do not count for overall square footage. By creating them a 2 story 2x3 you are taking away running and exercise space on the main level.

Lets see here. Maybe I can explain better. It is like have two 2x3 C&C cages, but one is on top of the other like a second level would be. There is no ramp, and the bottom pigs can't get to the top and the top pigs can't get to the bottom. Each cage will hold 2 pigs. Is that clearer? I'm no good at explaining things!

Well, it will ahv one side that opens completley, and then fastens shut again. It should be pretty easy to clean.

If your piggies get along really well, that would probably be ok for them them since there are only 2 pigs in each cage. The only thing I would be concerned about is light in that bottom cage. If they're stacked, isn't it awfully dark?

That would be fine, but the darkness in the bottom cage is an issue. Maybe you could put the stacked cages on a table or grid stand so the bottom cage could get more light.

The cage is on a sturdy table that light streams into. I thought about the bottom cage, and plenty of light gets into it.

To make it easier to clean and allow light in I stacked my top cage 2 grids above instead of only 1 grid off the floor. My boys are in a 2x4 turning into a 2x7 under my girls' 2x8. The boys cage is on the floor and the girls cage is 2 grids up to the coroplast and a total of 3 grids high to the top of the girls cage.
