UK Hi from Bristol

Hello. I've just joined and wanted to say hi.

We have two pigs and they're about 5 months old. We bought them from a pet shop, which we never would have done if we'd seen the site first. We had them in an outdoor hutch (a plastic one, which was the most expensive in the shop), and although they seemed happy, we missed seeing them and felt guilty leaving them out at night! Covering them over at night was also a hassle. We then bought a large cage for them and keep them inside with us. They love their floor and lap time

Like most pigs who are owned by people here, they're thoroughly spoiled, and give us loads of pleasure.

The cage is actually quite large - bigger than any of the pictures I've seen on some of the links to other forums/sites. Don't know the exact dimensions, but it is almost the length of a 2-seater sofa. It has two doors - one on the side, which is big enough to get them safely in and out - but I only use that occasionally to put treats in. It has a huge hinged-door on top (basically, it's the whole area of the cage - meaning that the whole of the roof opens up) - no trouble in getting them in and out safely. I look as if I'm trying to justify it now as I feel paranoid!

Their names are Poppy (she's black, white and brown) and Jess (she's black and white). Their coats are so smooth and shiny, they look like little otters.

I'll get some pics and post them, hopefully over or before the weekend. They had a wash and brush up the other day, so are probably about ready for their photos
