:grouphug: The short answer is no, we can't. :blockhead

If you haven't read the posting etiquette (http://cavycages.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11474)thread, please do. Here some excerpts:

Please use tactŁ when posting. Tact is defined as consideration in dealing with others and avoiding giving offenseŁ and acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending. Those are two good definitions of what we all should be doing whenever possible.

Things can get a bit high spirited around here sometimes. At the end of the day, message boards exist so that several different opinions can be sought in an environment where others can add in with their views at any stage. There isn't always a right or a wrong answer to questions or problems, often just an opportunity for advice and opinions which the person can listen to or ignore as they see fit.
This forum is run by a guinea pig rescue and is a rescue-friendly board. Intentional breeding and/or showing "how-to" discussions are not welcome in this forum.
We have instituted the policy of moving controversial and heated discussions to the kitchen forum. If you don't like it there, don't read it. It's as simple as that. The rest of the forum stays nice and friendly that way. This forum is composed of predominantly women (and girls)--approximately 85% according to our poll. This forum is also composed of predominantly adults--approximately 70% according to our poll. And of the children, most (approximately 85%) are teenagers (young adults). The non-teens have their parents permission to post.

This forum draws a very strong line in the sand on animal welfare issues. Animal welfare as a topic of discussion is almost as volatile as religion and politics. In addition, while the primary messages of Cavy Cages (bigger cages) seems pretty obvious by the time you get to this forum, this forum is still very evangelical in that message and more so in the anti-breeding/ showing/ pet store messages.
evangelical: enthusiastic or zealous in support of a particular cause and very eager to make others share its beliefs or ideals. We are also strong activists in the campaign for animal welfare.
activism: vigorous and sometimes aggressive action in pursuing a political or social end. Yes, 'you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.' However, we aren't about attracting flies. We are not about growing the forum membership for the sake of growing it. We most definitely do not want every person who happens across our site and forum to become active members.

If we wanted everyone to 'be happy' all of the time, we would be dousing the fire of the soul of our community. Most of the time, this is a great, fun place to hang out. Sometimes, some discussions get tough or argumentative or heated.

It would be my preference to work on a dance-related website rather than manage multiple rescue-oriented sites. I would very much prefer not to have to spend so much time and money on animal rescue. But, it seems that one day a long time ago, I put something into motion that continues to be effective and I continue to try to leverage every effort to achieve more results with the effort and resources expended.

Leverage is the key.
Leveraging: optimizing the use of investment of time, resources and effort to gain the highest return relative to that investment.Complacency is not a breeding ground for activism. This site and forum--through its members and messages--has inspired many others to go out and make a difference in the world in a variety of ways. That is extremely valuable and very important to our mission. Our community supports each other, and we all continue to inspire, educate and enlighten one another.

The relatively frequent opportunity for intelligent debate and discourse at an educated adult level helps attract and keep some of our best members. We (as moderators) do our best to try to keep posts and threads respectful within the context of our community. For some, we are just not nice enough. For others, we are just not perfect enough.

This is an adult-oriented site which is respectful and mindful of our younger members and audience. This forum holds to its animal welfare principles and does not and will not waiver from that. We do our best to manage things. If this isn't the best place for you, we understand. There are other forums, lists, groups available on the internet. Very few are promotable by us, because most support and/or encourage showing and breeding.

Three other pro-rescue forums to consider:

Cavy Madness (http://p203.ezboard.com/bcavymadness76263)
Pigloo Forums (http://www.pigloo.net/forums/)
GuineaLynx (http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/) (although if you don't like it here, you may not like there either)

We hope you stay and enjoy our forum and site. We welcome your contributions to our community.
