I also have just gotten this brand of food for them thinking it'd be better, having switched to this from Oxbow Essentials, the timothy hay selection, having spent $15 for 4lbs. I've really thought about switching them to a brand called Small Pet Select Timothy Based Guinea Pig Food. What brand is best for them? Please help! Money is not a issue when it comes to getting my piggies or any of my animals the best. =)

I have 6 total and I'd say the oldest 3 7-8 months, 2 are 5 months and the youngest no older then 4 months but then might be 3 months. =/ I do make sure they get a mix of Alfalfa and Timothy hay and fresh veggies twice a day every day. The list of veggies I check is from Happy Cavy!

Okay for the ones 6 months and younger the food its alfalfa based is fine however the ones older than that need a timothy based pellet

It won't hurt to feed all of them that food for another couple of months. But then I'd definitely switch to something lower in calcium. KMS has both low calcium and a calcium source other than limestone. Oxbow is dropping their limestone in favor of something else, but I don't know what or when.

They don't need both alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets -- that's overdoing the calcium by quite a bit. If you want to finish the pellets, ditch the alfalfa hay.

Okay. :) I think I'm just going to switch them all over to the Small Pet Select Guinea food pellets as it doesn't have the dried beet pulp as a ingredient unless there's something else in there that's bad for them that I'm not seeing. =/ Here is what it has on the page.

Not Less Than 25.0% Calcium: Not Less Than 0.4% Calcium

Would you check those numbers again? Should that be "Not Less than .25% calcium?" And "Not More than .4% calcium?"

OK, I see what's going on. Something must have gotten lost in the cut/paste. There should be semicolon to separate them, like this:

Crude Protein: Not Less Than 14.0%; Crude Fat: Not Less Than 2.0%; Crude Fiber: Not Less Than 25.0%; Calcium: Not Less Than 0.4%; Calcium: Not More than 0.6%; Phosphorous: Not Less Than .25%; Salt: Not Less Than .25%; Salt: Not More than 0.75%; Vitamin A: Not Less Than 8,650 IU/lb; Vitamin D: Not Less Than 400 IU/lb; Vitamin E: Not Less Than 86 IU/lb; Vitamin C: Not Less Than 400 mg/lb

That would make it clearer.
