So, it seems that I'll be getting a new piggy within the next couple of days, so long as things go according to plans. This was not actually planned, and it may not be a permanent home for the lil one (Though, let's be serious, it probably will be, knowing my track record.)
"I have a guinea pig here that ny kids don't want to take care of. Honestly? I'm sick of caring for it myself. "
Of all the ads I've seen on Craigslist, this is the only one that's managed to spark an anger induced anxiety attack. They're giving him/her away for free, complete with cage, bedding, and food.
The idea of free pets, especially small animals, really puts me on edge. I can't shake the idea of the little one becoming snake food, or going to a home that cares even less for it.
So I talked it over with my Otter, and we've decided that, if they respond to us, we're going to take it in. Whether or not we keep it ourselves and introduce it to our tiny herd, or find a decent home for it hasn't quite been decided yet. I'd like to make sure that it's healthy and steadily eating a high quality diet before I even think of rehoming.
I'm still thinking of a name, though. Very excited, no matter the permanency.
Personally, I'd never give a pet away for "free." But I'd like to pose the question: What is your stance on listing pets for free on Craigslist?
