Hello all,

I've had my 2 pigs (Hunter and Pablo) for a little over 3 months now. I don't know what their exact age was when we got them, but they were probably about 3 months or so. I've been weighing them weekly and they finally started to slow down the last couple weeks. I decided it was probably time to switch them from unlimited alfalfa pellets to limited timothy pellets. They have unlimited timothy hay available at all times. Today I weighed them again and it was the first time either of them had actually lost weight. Hunter had put on 17 grams last week, and is down 17 grams this week. Pablo put on 5 grams last week, and went down 4 grams this week.

I'm assuming this is normal for pigs that make the switch from alfalfa pellets to grass pellets. But I never want to just assume anything when it comes to their health and well-being.

I think you are correct, this is probably from the food switch. It's great that you keep tabs on their weight--it's a very important diagnostic tool.
