I just got my piggy today and I'm still learning something's. He squeaks when I pet him and I know squeaking can mean different things I just don't know how to tell what they mean.

Most squeaks are called "wheeks," and they're most often used when your piggy wants yummy food. My pig wheeks when I open the fridge or rustle a plastic bag, because she thinks she's getting veggies. If your pig is in pain, he'll do a shrill alarm call, which you should hopefully never hear. I bet your piggy is just wheeking, which is a good sign if you just got her. Welcome to the forum!

Then it's probably a good thing, unless she seems in pain or discomfort. Many guineas don't like being pet on their behinds, so if she does it then you may want to stop. Don't worry, you'll learn all about the sounds your piggy makes as you bond and learn about one another.

If you're using a pet store bought cage, they're often too small and have to make the ramps too steep for piggies to climb. Your pig just may not use it.

Which one is it? Many stores market their cages as large, when they're really tiny. Your cage should be at least 7.5 feet in area.

Yeah, that cage is too small. It will work as a temporary cage until you get a new one, But I urge you to get a different one. Check out some C&C cages here on this website. You can also use a Midwest cage (available online). Believe me, your pig will love having space to run.

No problem. I'm sure your piggy would love space to play. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

For now, not really. You can offer your piggy free-range time in a pig-proof room to stretch his legs, though. (By the way, is your pig a boy or girl? You've referred to it as a "he" and a "she," so I'm not sure.)
