Hey there. I am thinking of possibly adding another level to my current 2X4 Cage, bought from https://www.guineapigcagesstore.com/
I recently moved back in to a smaller room, and am looking for ways to give my pigs some more room. What are some experiences with upper levels? As you can see I use the fleece flippers mainly, then the cavie cafe for food/water.

Eh, I roughly drew out something, I did this in my 2x11, you can put a 2x2 on it And have grids diagonally underneath for support. It sticks out a grid so that you won't have a harder time getting underneath. Less steep too ;)

Directly on top of the 2X4?

It sticks out a grid, technically making it a 2x5 in length if you were to put a 1x2 as a kitchen (not recommended with all boys)

They are both males. Thinking of adopting a third, maybe.

Then you'll definatly need something larger than a 1x2 for a kitchen

A 2x2 kitchen should work play as a kitchen, I'd give them multiple food dishes and water bottles because them "claiming" things, dominance such.

Use a 2X2 loft as their kitchen area, then just fleece the bottom area. I do need to get another water bottle The muilti-colored one is pretty dominate when it comes to the water bottles.

I think you need something longer than a 2x4 if you are going to have 3 males, adding a loft isn't the same as making it longer.

I found it difficult to clean when I had a 2x2 loft, I didn't like the fact that I had to reach into the corners when I did my daily spot cleaning and then I would have to take the loft off completely when I did the total whole cage cleaning.

Then one of piggies stopped going up in the loft (older piggie) so I had two kitchens (one upstairs and one downstairs). I ended up taking the loft completely. I will do a 1x1 loft from time to time to change the configuration around.

Ahh true...for three males you are going to need something larger than a 2x4.. Thank you CavieGuy I've owned boys for 3-4 years why did I miss this LOL. For three boys its recommended to have a 2x6 or 3x4. Some think having it wider will help reduce the fights/disagreements *generally* causes by the x2 grid sides (they feel cramped maybe? My pigs have never had a problem with x2 grid sides.) For 3 males. What If you made the 2x4 a 2x6/3x4 and put a loft in there, maybe a 2x1 on both sides? Although....2 or all three may try to go into one kitchen and then end up arguing because of the little space.

The place I'm in now I just have enough room to fit the 2X4, sacrificing where an entertainment Center would go. I was thinking about maybe Getting the stand, so I have space underneath to keep pig related items.
So, 3 is pushing it, huh? Shucks.
I sound like a crazy person ha, people are always asking me to take in a stray piggy.

You can always build it in a L shape, or build it to have a understory. pigger123 did that I believe. She(he maybe sorry) took the extra space from her stand and made a downstairs for her pigs.

Keep in mind, stories don't count to total floor space, If you're short on length, i can help explain how to build a cage in an L form, fit to go along two walls. (Corners of the wall)

So, Basically a cage on top of a cage?
Edit: Feel free to explain. I'm all for learning.

What's the difference with the L Shaped cages? It would work in here, It's in the corner.

There's not really a difference, its just a bent c&c cage :D like two 2x4's lined up, only bent. I did it with mine, it was basically a 2x12, 2x6's on. Each side.

Here's my old cage. It has been changed since then
