I tried to fill the whole in my heart today when I adopted this little guy. He was rejected by a breeder who didn't want him. I thought he was just the cutest little nugget! Plus, he is one of the only young males anywhere near me right now that needs rehoming.
So, I am learning new things all the time, he appears to be a roan. I googled it and gave myself the cliff notes on roans, please consider me up to speed to why the he** you should never breed these things, I never planned to for the record. I only want males anyhow, unless I find a spayed sow in need of a home.
Oh but this little guy is soooooo cute. So far his name is Sir ______ Von Meatball. Still looking for suggestions. I will call him Meatball for for short. I am really enjoying having such a young little pig, he is so different than my first two, he was hand raised by a 4h kid who didnt want him after he found out he couldn't show him for some reason. I cant imagine why, he is so cute. Have I said cute enough time yet, geez. And for giggles, here is me ,laying in the lower half of the cage to fix the lighting that had come loose in the rear corner. It's nice and roomy. 33"x66" each layer. Ok, its actually ridiculously huge and takes up 1/4 of the room. But meatball loves it. Doing his laps! Which spaghetti never does, he's a chub.
Oh, and on the super sucky downside. He has and eartag Looks like a standard guinea style tag via a google search. We tried to snip it tonight, but the measly snips wouldn't cut it. Even with 2 of us, its difficult to hold him still, though for guinea standards I would say he is fairly compliant, it could be worse, it could be a cat. I suspect I need to find a good pair of strong small snips to clip the bent notch part. We were no where near inuring the piggie fwiw, no worse than trimming squirmy nails and such, being very careful and backed off for the night.
Still on the hunt for another mate. I'd like a 3-4 herd posse over the next few weeks if the pigs are agreeable.
Spahetti got a upwind sniff of his new pal and did not immediately respond with anger, fingers crossed. The will be separated for at least 10 days while we adjust, with some slow intros to hopefully induce friendship.
