I've seen that pic before. Those pigs are bred for meat in Peru.

Come again, for meat?
To think I was getting a kick out of their little duplexes....
I didn't think they were used for meat purposes anymore, so sorry for the piggies...

Oh! That is so sad. There are some really cute pigs in that picture too! Look at the gold colored one in the middle, it looks like my boris! Cool house though. Could you imagine, having something like that set up in a room in your house. That would be like piggy heaven!lol

In Peru they are as common as chickens being raised for food. It's how it has always been there.

Although it is so sad that such cute little piggies are being eaten it is some times it the only way for these people to get meat to eat. I still just cant see how anyone can bring themselves to eat such cure animals.

They look like gingerbread houses. *LOL* It's a shame that the piggies are being bred to eat, though. I can't see how anyone would want to eat such an adorable creature.

Years ago it was either National Geo. or Globe Trekker that showed a market where they cooked them etc. My daughter and I just about fell apart. Actually it is something my son and ex husband don't forget either. Just horrible.

My husband had some friends who gave a guy from Ecuador a guinea pig as a surpise pet. When he opened up the box, he had the strangest look on his face, because he only knew guinea pigs as a "food source".

He didn't eat him, and did keep him as a pet, but they were all shocked at that fact. Wow!
