Me and my dad have been building them all day. From 11am till 6:30pm. (We had to take out all 16 guinea pigs and put in new shelves..etc..) We've made three cages. Two of them are joined together with a ramp. They are both 2x6 and house eleven guinea pigs in. The other cage is divided into three - they have 2x2 each. I know they aren't that big BUT they are MUCH bigger than their old cages so they are FASCINATED by the new ones!!! They are so excited. I will post pics soon. I am planning on making them a bit bigger in the future. I still have one more cage to build:melodrama

I am planning on putting more stuff in the cages - hideys, blankets..etc..

This is Ellery's cage

Chico's cage

Elijah's cage

It's one big cage divided into three so they can see each other. I have tried to put these boars together but they didn't get on at all. So they can still see each other through the bars.

Gorgeous cage for a bunch of piggers! It looks very nice and I'm sure your piggies love the new space.

I spent about $36 for the everything.

Coroplast - $10
Cubes - 15
Shelving for top - $9
Tie wraps - $2
This is about half what the original 'Patio Home Cage' / prison cost me at the pet store when we first got them!

All the cages for me cost...
£40 for Correx
£108 for grids
£30 for shelves
everything else was pretty cheap.

Same with my cage pics! I'm guessing you got your cubes from Robert Mays? I recognise the quality of them and the price rather a lot! Well done again!

Yes, Robert May. Pricey but worth it. The pigs have been going crazy about their new cages. Thing is.. all eleven of them are only using the top level at the moment... a 2x6 for 11 guinea pigs?? Not a lot of space.. but they don't know how to use the ramp. I've put three of them on the bottom level now so maybe if they notice their mates are gone they'll have a search around the cage and explore the ramp:sarcastic I've tried using food but all they do is crowd round it but none of them are brave to go down it yetlol I did put George on the bottom level and he climbed up so that's a start. I think going down is more harder though.

When I first got my girls (one of whom is blind), I had to "teach" them to use the ramp. Their kitchen area is on the 2nd floor. So I put the girls on the 1st floor and guided them w/ food. I'd string the food along and up the ramp just enough so they could quite get to it until they reached their kitchen. Snickers & Snowball caught on quickly and learned where the food was. Angel took a few different tries but she now can get to anyplace in the cage, even when I revised it. Don't worry. It just may take them time. I bet once one of them figures it out the others will follow suit.
11 piggies, huh? I thought five were alot. I wish I could take in that many. Good for you! And again, I really like your cage!!

Charlie used to slide down the ramp on his bum when he first got a multi-level!

They'll get used to it. Maybe you could try putting all the hay and food on the upper level to convince the pigs to go up there? And you could try trailing some veggies up the ramp to see if that'll encourage them.

Good job on your cages. I am proud of you for building them. That goes to show how responsable you are! You should give your dad a big huge for helping you! That was great of him to care so much! Cute piggies by the way! :0)

:) yeah, dad has been real great.. anything that needs doing for the guinea pigs, he'll do it for me. It's nice to have an animal-lover dadlol I have bad news - Chico died, he become ill and died at the vets. The good news - The 2x2's have now been turned into 2x3's!:) I will have to get more pics of the cages soon.
