Easy Pesy Fleece Forest! A How To:

Easy pesy how to guide to measure/cut your own fleece forest. No rulers required!

Step 1:
Use a grid and line it off a straight line. I used the white space that Joann has on their fabrics.

Step 2: take your marker(preferably one you can see well against your chosen fabric) and trace the outside of your grid.

Step 3: Now take your marker and trace the "strip line" inside the squares.

Continuation of Step 3: These "strip lines" are the guide lines of how you will cut your strips.
This is what your fleece should look like when finished tracing:

Step 4: Repeat the above steps to get the rest of your forest line. When you finish the steps the result will look like so: Ignore the lines to the right of the photo(fail measurements)

Step 5: Cut your section out using your outside traces.

Step 6: If you used the white space like I did. Cut that lil sucker off lol

Step 7: Begin cutting your strips(or trees :D) Be sure to leave an inch space in the center

Step 8: Finish that end and cut your strips(or trees) on the other end.

Step 9: Flip your fleece forest over and slip it onto your grid.

Step 10: Fit it to your cage and watch your piggys have fun!!!
Tip: Should your piggies decide his or her new fleece forest is nummy just toss it into the wash with 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Use it in your wash as if it is softener.

You can use 3 lines. However, I chose 2 because Whistles enjoys laying in the corner and it also doesn't look too crowded to me.

NP!
I haven't seen anyone post a fleece forest tutty. And decided I should post an uber easy one.
The strips are long enough to provide cover. But also not long enough to touch the cage floor.

You're ssssssooooo welcome xD
I had measured and marked so many times and finally decided to try using a grid. Worked perfectly. Another issue I ran into is my only table is very small. So I only had my living room floor to do the measuring and cutting.

Re: Easy Pesy Fleece Forest! A How To:

It's such a simple thing but I still couldn't figure out a way to do it where it was easily removeable! Thank you for thinking of posting your way, I shall do this for my cage tomorrow :)

I enjoy sharing my ideas with the community.
This idea is very simple to remove. Requires minimal effort to put it on as well.
My only issue with it is it sorta becomes tangled in washes. When taking it out of the washer you should untangle it before popping it into the dryer.

Re: Easy Pesy Fleece Forest! A How To:

Thank you MrWhistles for taking the time to make and post this wonderful tutorial. I originally just cut strips and tied them to the grid but hated untying them when I wanted to change the look of the cage. I like having things that match :p I can just pull these out and put in new ones.

Re: Easy Pesy Fleece Forest! A How To:

You're very welcome!
I was going to do that as well. But I cannot bend over for too long/my knees hurt terribly if I kneel. These are a great on/off hidy.

Re: Easy Pesy Fleece Forest! A How To:

So i ended up making the fleece forest today and needless to say its a huge hit with Rusty & Munchie they are going nuts running back and forth through it like they are playing hide & seek, popcorning all over the place and i guess because they are so excitable they are pooping like crazy (hence all the ones in and around the forest)lol Easy Pesy Fleece Forest!Easy Pesy Fleece Forest!
