One of my pigs ate five 1/2" strips of tape. What do I do???

    New rescue piggy questions?

My rescue loner was the same way. Took him a very long while to actually eat hay, instead of just nibble here and there. I didn't see him popcorn at all, but he was running around once he started feeling better (vitamin C deficiency, URI, long nails, bad food), which was about a week or two? But...

    Stinky, greasy pigs?

Meaning bad health? I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong. Oxbow and veggies twice a day...?

    Stinky, greasy pigs?

Jasper and Murphy are both slightly smelly, and Jasper (American/silkie mix) is shining he's so greasy. Murphy is an Abyssinian, so he doesn't look shiny, but his hair feels pretty disgusting. I gave them a bath soon after I adopted them in May, so I don't think I should have to give them...

    Will they ever get along???

If they still don't get along after the bath, they probably won't get along. How old are they? It could be puberty. https://cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm

W&W - Some are, some are not. Dandelions are a scrumptious treat for them, not poisonous. See Ly's thread on which are and which aren't. Looks like Cookie really enjoyed that, Jane.

I love how the texture of their fur is so different. One is curly while they other is stick straight.

Where to Order? Buying online cheaper?

I did that and called the closest "Oxbow preferred" for prices, as well as my vet that sells Oxbow, and then checked online, and online was cheaper by about $60. That's just for stores around me though, I don't know for everywhere.

    Hay Alfalfa for young pigs

Yes. You can do a number of things instead of alfalfa hay, but alfalfa is a way to get the extra calcium they need until about six months.

    Veg*n Side effects??!!

If you're dad's concerned about protein, it's a ridiculous notion that we can ONLY get protein from meat. It's plain and simple: not true. There is protein in nuts, bread products, pasta, fake meats, etc. There's protein in almost everything you eat.

    New rescue piggy questions?

He's adorable. He looks like my Jasper, and I've heard so many times of peoples' pigs looking like Jasper. I guess black with a brown stripe is common! He's a cutie.

    Food Photo

I got an automatic one saying it had been deleted from Teresa. I don't know that it was an error, because I've uploaded pictures after that one. Anyway, if I want to put it up, I'll email them. Thank you PM.

Very cute piggie and cozy, but how come their poops are light brown?

    Food Photo

It was of their dinner. Just on a plate on the counter, no cages or guinea pigs in sight. All their veggies. It was like Paula's; veggies on a plate in her kitchen.

    Does age matter?

Depends. Is Gizmo older or younger? If she's younger, older might be better, if she's older, younger might be better. Or, should just be perfectly fine with someone her own age. If she's healthy, you can take her to the rescue with you and do introductions there.
