wow guys, nice replies! and yes bpatters, I know about satins and osteodystrophy. (thanks for the concern) haven't yet found anything wrong with her. She might even be partly satin, because she is shinier + softer than Poppa but not as shiny as the ones in the pictures.

Things you love about your pet...

Hey guys, this is kind of a random thread :crazy:but... What are the things you LOVE about your pet? This could be their habits, or little details on their fur. Here is mine: Pippa: a satin (so shiniy >.<), can't keep still or keep quiet, popcorns and runs laps at a scary speed o.O and burrows...

Bedding Use Fleece, but want to make Kitchen Area

oh and I wouldn't use just newspaper in the kitchen area. it is fine to put as the bottom layer because as you said, its easy to roll up. It isn't that absorbant and just as a heads up, if you have white coroplast, don't use newspaper. It stains the bottom and is very difficult to get off. I...

Bedding Use Fleece, but want to make Kitchen Area

I posted a thread on this topic not long ago: https://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/bedding/63491-kitchen-area-best-bedding.html I decided to use my leftover Kiln dried pine and it works well, but it does stick to the fleece a bit. Next I will be using a paper based bedding/litter. It is called...

    Bathing Dry bath shampoo

Wow thanks so much guys! I haven't bought the powder stuff yet because I wouldn't want to waste money on what I now know is a very questionable product. Definately wont be buying this. Wiping with a damp cloth sounds good as well as but baths. Now that I think of it, they probably don't need a...

    Bathing Dry bath shampoo

Hi, the pigs are 3 and a half months old! they grow up too fast don't they! Anyways, they are due for a bath. Don't worry, they don't stink or anything. I really don't like giving gunea pigs baths and Pippa and Poppa have just gotten used to me. At the pet store, I say I product by Aristo pet...

Vegetables What part of Roma tomatoes

Hi, My Mum bought a heap of Roma tomatoes and I have been feeding the pigs some. I did a quick search on the net and people said its ok, but I wasn't sure which part. So just to be cautious I cut out the center and seeds. They love them. So is it ok to feed them the seeds and the bit inside...

Fruit Can guinea pigs eat grapes?

Yes, Guinea pigs can eat seedless grapes. You probably know this, but since it is a fruit, it is high in natural sugar so should be fed only 2-3 times a week. They are perfect for rewards if you are training them tricks!

    Beach - Themed Accessories?

I totaly agree with botth of you. The hideys are a great idea. Just get one of those sand castle making things, but it under hot water and cut through the plastic to make a door. It will look like a little sand castle of the beach!

    Sick concerned about waiting

Nice to see another aussie online! don't worry I am in a stressful time aswell. I found blood in my pig's cage but it's not from UTI. (Urinary Track Infection) I know how hard it is to find an exotic vet nearby, but I guess you just have to go with what you have. My dream is to become an exotic...

Conditions Help blood found on towel

Ok, so Here is my Hypothosis: 1. This is not coming from their but because, as many of you said, is spread and smeared out like it couldn't be pee. 2. It is coming from Pippa's nail. When I was attempting to trim them, I didn't go fully through the nail and cut all of it off. I kind of cut a...

Conditions Help blood found on towel

Thanks all for the responses. I found no blood today, (YAY!!!!!) Is it possible that I did accidently cut the quick and a scab formed and she picked it, or it fell off? I am having suspicions that it is Pippa my black pig. But they still seem fine as ever.

Conditions Help blood found on towel

I doubt that it is UTI because in didn't come in pee. Niether do bladder stones. I am concerned about a vaginal or some internal problem. I will try my best to get them to the vet ASAP

Conditions Help blood found on towel

I will probably take them to the vet on the weekend or maybe even tomorrow. I have checked both of their genital areas and they are both clean. Does URI involve blood? never heard or seen any pain while peeing. I will try that technique asap, but since it's pretty late in aus, I may have to wait.

Conditions Help blood found on towel

oh thankyou so much for the advice. I really do think that it was from the clipping as she does have black nails. but they all seem fine now. As I said, they are both fine and taking them to the vet is kind of a life or death situation. I was doing my home work by their cage before and they were...
