    Cage PVC + Space Question

To address your first question, I use the pvc pipe for my piggies and they love it. The only change I made was to cut some fleece to line them with. They were fine without, but the pvc was constatly gross looking because they would poop and pee in there and there was nothing to soak up the extra...

    General new to fleece bedding..Help!

Well I'm not sure how wide your cage is but I have a 2x6 and this is how I do it. I usually buy 3 yrds of whatever fleece is on sale, anti-pill or blizzard. That is more than wide enough and long enough for the cage. I use a uhaul blanket as the base, folded in half lengthwise to cover the...

Guinea Pig-Proofing and Part-time Free Range

Worldangel, I wanted to address your question about making floor time easier. I'm not sure if you have room with an area you can leave set up up, but what I do is leave my floor time area set up until it needs washing. I use a Uhaul pad for the base, fleece for the top, and gating around the...

    Adopting need some advice/help

In my opinion it sounds like you would be "rescuing" a little pig from this unintentional litter. I don't think it would be a bad thing. Hopefully your friend has taken the steps to prevent further litters from happening.

    New Member Introduction

Hello and welcome!! I, like you, have found this site to be very useful and it has allowed me to give my piggies the best of the best. I even have a friend who owns guinea pigs and is surprised by the home I have built for them. I told her about his site and she was definitely intrigued as...

    Behavior Just adolescent behavior?

Thank you Kathlaaron for all your input. I guess my tone coming across is just disappointment right now and the feeling that I'm doing something wrong. After reading your posts though, I feel better. I think I am just expecting too much too soon. I have to take solace in the baby steps we...

    Behavior Just adolescent behavior?

Thanks Kathlaaron. I do feel like I have been giving my piggies the best of the best when it comes to housing and food (all learned from this site). They get plenty of veggies twice a day. I ordered Kleenmama's hay and pellets (they love the pellets) and have built them a 2x6 C&C cage with...

    Behavior Just adolescent behavior?

So I do feel that my little guys are getting more and more used to me but I still feel like they could care less about being pet or held by me. They will wheek and get excited when I bring in their veggies but want no part of lap time or any petting. I have been trying to ease into it slowly...

    Grid size inquiry

Thanks everyone! Kathlaaron, yes they will have a room all to themselves. This room was formerly our "game room" which contains a foosball table (which I am selling) and a dartboard. It was pretty much wasted space, so now it is the guinea pig room. :D Also, you are correct. I put a blanket...

    Grid size inquiry

Wooo hooo, it's finally done and my boys are moved in. They seem to really enjoy it so far. Running around and sqeaking all over the place, along with scenting as well. It looks a little empty with them being in such a large space now but I'm sure they will grow into it!!

    Grid size inquiry

Ok, attempt #2......I took one box of my grids back to Target and got a box from K-mart that were 9x9. I just used the 8x8 and 5x5 grids to create the bottom and stand to my cage. This is the cage so far. Now just waiting to get some shelving for the top (I have a dog that is much too curious)...

Size Is this okay for a Quarantine cage?

If I were you I would go with something more like this: (broken link removed) It's bigger and cheaper. My pigs are in that currently while I am finishing up their C&C cage. Hope this helps.

Behavior A few questions from a newbie

My little guys are like yours. They are still relatively young and have only been with me for 3 weeks. So, they run and hide when we enter the room and during floor time they can't get away fast enough if I try to touch them. On the positive side I have noticed subtle differences since I've...

    Grid size inquiry

I did the same thing but the 9 in the box were 8X8 not 9X9 and the other 14 in the box were 5X5. I did use those to make the bottom and storage but wasn't sure about the top. Thanks for your advice everyone.

    Grid size inquiry

Hello all. I am writing to inquire about grid size. I have just built my first C&C cage, minus the second C since I am still waiting to pick up the Coroplast. Anyways, I was wondering what you all thought about 8X8 grids versus 9X9. Are they just as safe? Should I be worried? Currently my boys...

    Water bottle

My third water bottle works like a charm. I went with the glass variety and it only drips a tiny bit when I first fill it up but then it's stops. Good luck.

Rumblestrutting She's so wierd? Rumbles as a sign of excitement?

It's funny to read this. My little guys do this too, and I keep thinking they are challenging one another. I see now that maybe that's not the case after all. When they do it during floor time it is usually followed by lots of running and sometimes popcorning.
