Wow that looks amazing! I'd be worried about pee soaking into the mats. You should have fleece with something under it just in case!

I might put fleece down since I do have some blankets, but the mats are waterproof. They have already gone potty a tad.

It will soak through the cracks (where it connects)

so I very much agree, you need something underneath.
