Description}: I finally got a stand figured out!! I was at target and these are for dorm rooms! They are 3 level shelving that can hold an obscene amount of weight haha! I had to lower them from the max height (36") and will probably lower them more but I love being eye level with my pigs!!

Description}: Here you can see the storage area. I was thinking of making a new cage with coroplast matching the tablecloth and black grids and I will cut the coroplast even, except I will leave the back higher than the front and sides. This was the first cage I made. So now I have a better idea of how to make it look good.

Description}: This is just a stand I built for my furbabies 2x7 cage. It contains lots of storage underneath. Took about 5 hours to build, only because I had to take apart the previous stand I had build. So really it only took about 2 hours. I couldn't tell you exactly how many grids, but for sure probably around 80-100+ grids were used. Enjoy =D

Description}: This is my extra storage added at the end as well as my stand underneath (although you can't really see it in the picture). I put things like paper towels and my dustpan underneath, but the fleece should stay off the floor, so I built this little add-on! It's really good and makes things much easier to reach.

Description}: The target grids worked well to make the stand out of....they are too big to use for a cage but work as a stand! I have my hay, and all my fleece material stored there along with a trash can and paper towels and lap pads for laptime.

Grid Stand

Description}: After looking at a ton of photos here, I decided to take a stab at making a stand myself. For the base, I made three sections of cubes (1X2) closed off on all sides except the front. The connectors were put on in a way that I could attach a border of grids around the whole thing and secure it together. The three cubes that make up the base are only connected by the border; there are no grids on the bottom of the coroplast besides the 1X2 tops of the cubes, so the space between the three base pieces have no grids (this saves grids and still gives plenty of support). Then I simply popped in the coroplast. It uses 42 grids and 48 connectors and is very stable since it's all one piece.

PVC pipe stand

Description}: The stand is being used with a 2x4 cage with a 1x4 hayloft. Plywood was screwed to the top of the stand where the cage sits and an extra PVC pipe leg added in the middle for support. It is quite sturdy. Please excuse the construction mess.

Description}: This shot is a close-up that shows not only how the floor is zip tied to itself, but where the base grids are zip tied to the floor. It looks like a mess but if you study it you can see the method to the madness. This is a center connection of the 3x4 cage where the pedestal base in the center section is attached to the floor The area where you see what looks like two zip ties in the same place is NOT two zip ties on the same location. Each zip tie has a specific purpose. One is a zip tie to the mesh grid to keep the floor sturdy and together, the other is a zip tie to keep the base grid firmly attached to the floor of the cage. The blue grids you see are the center grids that are designed to hold up the center of the cage to keep it from collapsing. See my other pictures for a complete picture.

Description}: If you look closely at this bottom of this cage, you'll see that there are grids that lay on the carpet. I basically created one cube for each "leg" of the cage. Then I also added a center section of grids to create a "pedestal" on the inside center of the cage.. This makes the inside of the cage so secure that my 200lb frame is securely held if I climb up into the cage for any reason. To CLEAN this cage requires that you create "tailgates" on the sides of the cage. To do this, take 2 of the grids in the CENTER SECTION on the side and make the zip ties loose enough so that if you take off the connectors and lift up the grids, they will fall down like a truck tailgate. These 2 grids would also NOT be zip tied on the sides as well. While ever other grid is zip tied at every connector. This makes it perfect to get into the cage and reach across. Of course, you can always just make the same cage that is only 2 grids wide and it would be fine.

Description}: This is an attempt to show how my base is assembled. You'll notice that I only had one grid added in the center section of the floor. This is the bottom of the cage. I had to add grids for "legs" so that they laid flat on the floor all the way around to give the cage the kind of stability it needed to be able to move it around for cleaning the carpet etc. If you don't put comleted cubes for the base, the grids will wobble and fall off and the cage will collapse Next image will give a better idea of what I'm talking about

Description}: This shows a 3x4 cage that has been basically assembled, and zip tied at every section in 4 places. Doing this took about an hour or two. Note the large amount of large black plastic zip ties at each section. I will add image showing close-up so you can see how that works. These ties must be pulled as tight as physically possible. The larger the tie, the stronger the hold. The cage has a MESH grid floor because we had them and thought they would make a more secure flooring. The base to this cage can be seen if you look closely, it is designed so that there is a center pedestal that makes an inner circle that give the center of the cage enough stability so that I can actually climb into the cage without it collapsing. Final steps include: adding additional grids on the bottom so that the base is firmly attached to itself, and the grids won't move around when moving the cage. Basically this means creating a large "O" shape around the outside of the cage on the bottom. Using a pair of wire cutters to cut the ends of every single zip tie.

Description}: This is how we laid out the base. 2x4 grids held together with cable ties. We added zig zag of 1/2 height cube squares to support base at rear of storage drawers. Room to store dust vac in between drawers.

Description}: This is my 2x6 cage and the grids I used to raise it up, I have 3 shaped like a T on either end and in the middle is a shaped set of grids. I put no connectors on the bottom, but ALL joints are zip tied for stability.

Description}: Under the bottom of the cage, I am getting boxes to put all the supplies in (that don't need refrigeration of course). The coroplast is coming from my brother in law's metal stamping company. They use it for packaging. So if you know anyone in that business, you might be able to ask them for some. One 4x8 sheet only cost me $7.00 and they are also cutting it for me!
