Description}: Pearl lubs her icepack in the pigloo! I wrapped it tightly and secureed the freezer pack in a facewasher. I do this in the summer. I urge them down the ramo to the grass for floor time in the morning when its nice and cool. They get the icepack in the middle of the day, then go down to the grass again in the late afternoon, when its also cool. :)

Guinea Pig Air Conditioning

Description}: Its been hot lately and my mom doesn't want to run the AC, but the girls looked hot... Sooo, I made them their own room with an "AC". I put a towel down in an old cage, then refrigerant packs, then fleece, and another towel. It makes it cool to lay on but not too cold. Then i attached it to their main cage and put a towel over it for keeping the cool inside. Calypso likes to burrow so i had to tuck the fleece under the ice packs so she doesn't get freeze burn or anything.

Description}: Use caution and observe that cavie does NOT chew on his/her cooler wrap. Recommend using under supervision. Although, my cavie was way too hot to even bother with chewing anything under our heat wave here in the east. I removed it overnight or when no one was tending him.

Description}: This is the new happy house 2.20 x 0.70 cm for my two female piggies! This picture shows a thermometer to check the inside temperature if it needs to switch on the A/C to cool them. If I am out, I use ice cubes rolled with plastic bag and two layers of towels. No problem!

Description}: I was completely suprised when I but Zingo in the water. First he smelled the water and then he layed down in the water. It was as if it was his own personal bath tube. He was very relaxed thoughout the whole bath. It was amazing.

Description}: Had wrapped the ice-pack in a pillowcase, they kept climbing inside the pillow case, then they climbed on top of each other - not cool, but was cute ! But generally, they did rest against it.

Frozen Water Bottle Cover

Description}: When the weather is hot, I like to put a frozen water bottle in the cage to keep the pigs and their veggies cool. A towelwrapped around the bottle was too think, so I made this water bottle cover. It is sewn together at one end, and the other end has elastic, so it can slide over the water bottle, then keep it in.

Description}: This is a mesh panel from linens and things that we bent to originally make a tunnel. Then in a flash of creativity, we decided to attach the tunnel against the edge of the cavy cage. You can't tell by this picture, but we attached it so that the open end of the tunnel was zip tied to the wall of the cc cage. It's completely enclosed. We had to use the tiny zip ties (we bought a big thing of them that had various sizes from Orchard Supply) but it's more secure than my stair railing. It allows the air to breeze through so he doesn't get overheated during the day. At night I lay a towel on top to keep him warm. I shake the poops off the microfiber towel daily and wash once a week. for the hot days I've been placing a large about 1ltr frozen water bottle on the top of the "penthouse" , (the mesh style cubes from linens and things actully have grooves in them so the water bottle doesn't roll off. then I lay a kitchen towel over the water bottle and sides of the "penthouse". I tried it without cover the water bottle and by end of day the ice has melted. When I covered it, the water bottle still had ice when I came home from work... The cold air falls downward into the little house when you cover it.

Description}: Put inside the cage and let the pigs enjoy! You may want to freeze several baggies so when one melts, you will have another to use while it freezes again. Also, if you have pigs that are major chewers, you might not want to leave them alone with it, or they may chew the plastic.

Description}: I live in Scotland. Never thought I would have to keep them cool! The last few days have been 28C and the piggies have been noticably warm and lethargic. So I wrapped a bottle of frozen water in a cloth and they've been lying against it whenever they feel too warm.
