Description}: Ok so its really just a fire escape in my apartment but I didnt have anywhere else!! Im getting dandelions tomorrow to plant. Hoorah! I need some more parsley plants too... and some more basil. (I like to use the basil for my pesto... not enough in this household to go around!!!) This is some wheatgrass I grew.... any other closet gardeners out there?

Description}: Here's my new guinea pig garden. It's made of 3 -8' long boards, one is cut into a 2' and 6'piece so the design is triangular to fit perfectly in that corner of my yard. I used untreated wood and only plants that were listed as guinea pig safe. Since they will be constantly supervised, I can stop any chewing that's not safe. I think they're going to have a great time.

Description}: I use the plastic bottoms of store bought cages as litter pans for my rabbits, so I had a lot of wire tops laying around. I made this by zip tyeing together 3 and 1/2 of the tops. There is a piece of blue cloth draped over the back half to provide privacy and shade. After this picture was taken I added more tunnels and another water bottle. I plan to make it larger by adding about 3 more tops.

Description}: In a week or less, lawn grass will grow to a suitable length. I actually let it grow for 2 weeks where it got to about... 7 inches or so and then I let my piggie eat it. I just lift the entire cotton base out of the planter saucer and let my piggie munch on it. Then after he has munched on it to his heart's content and is done, I place the cotton base - with intact seeds and all - back into the saucer and continue to grow. This is what it looks like after being eaten down by my friend's piggie around 3 days ago.

Description}: Here, I put another empty planter saucer on top of the saucer with seeds in it to create a dome/greenhouse effect. The humidity inside the "dome" will create something that I forgot about lol* and cause the seeds to germinate.

Description}: Even in Scotland it can get hot, so shelter is provided by a large dust sheet. There is no water or other food in the pic as they have only spent short spells in the new run so far.

Description}: We have just completed this out-door run. The hexagonal shape meant we got the max space out of the materials. Each side is just under four feet long so if you drew a circle 8ft in diameter it would fit inside. We did the lower fence first, which meant that when they were in there we had to do guard duty because of local cats and foxes. Now we have completed the roof, which has two hinged sections for access. This may need a rethink as I have to get inside to catch them. It is also pretty heavy. We are thinking of doing a revised version using a heavier wire which would allow us to use lighter wooden elements. Shade is currently provided by a thick dustsheet secured with pegs and planks (on the outside). They also have hidey boxes in there. No toys at the moment - they are just enjoying the grazing and as yet have only been in for relatively short periods.

Description}: Here's my son watching to keep his GP safe. This is a 4 x 4 foot raised bed that we've given over to the guinea pig among the other raised bed in our 30' x 40' garden space. We grow organic grass, lettuce and edible flowers in this space.

Description}: Here is the garden we created so that our GP could get some forage time outdoors. To keep him safe he's never left out there alone, or even when our back is turned. But a nice chance to give him some outdoor time and lots of organic forage.

Picasso & Houdini Outside

Description}: Here is a picture I took today of Picasso and Houdini outside in their grassy play area. I just got some wire mesh from Bunnings and joined the ends to make a circle. I'm hoping to get some more wire mesh this weekend so that I can expand it some more as it is too small right now. I move it around the backyard every few days or as soon as all the grass in the patch its on has been eaten. Usually they spend atleast an hour a day in the area so long as the weather is good (with me checking on them every few minutes from my window). To keep them sheilded from the sun and any birds that may fly by, I attatch a parasole to make a roof for the play pen. I also put their favorite willow bridge in there for them to play with and sleep inside.

Description}: Outdoor time lodge that I built. Roof is waterproof. Front triangle panel comes off for easy cleaning. Inside is a waterproof floor. It is screened in with a type of heavy duty aluminum screen that is used on house windows. Please don't leave any criticizing comments or warnings about birds of prey swooping down to eat my pigs.

Description}: Arrows show where my pigs are. We had an unseasonal warm March day (almost 70!) so my pigs had their first outdoor experience! Luckily for them the garden has nothing in it yet so they can go in it. This summer I'll have to make them something else, but until I plow this spring they get to use it! Oh and It's about 20' x 30' or 600 sq ft! (fyi: I was out with them the whole time.)

(Around 12 foot long x 4 foot wide x 2.3 foot high) The roof comprises 3 lids - 2 ply lids for shade and one mesh lid, all with locks. The cage is made up of 3 parts which are all screwed together but can easily be taken apart if we move house. There are handles on either end to allow us to move it up & down the lawn. Completely meshed on all sides but there's no floor to allow grazing. We stuck a wooden box for them to hide in as well as other toys.

Description}: I wanted a Huge place for the girls to play outside Since they love it out there. I use Plastic grid's to make the one side double safe & the right side of the is the house & the back of the deck we Nailed wood to it. i used a dog cage taken apart for the Last side. Never leave your pig's Alone even in the safest place. We don't have to worry about hawks & animals like that & I always have one of the dog's out so i don't have to worry about street cat's.
