    Western PA Pignic?

I'm outside of the Pittsburgh area and would love sometime this summer to get together to have a Pignic.. They aren't that common, but looking through the forums I do see quite a few of us that are from the area. It can be with or without pigs - just a get together to wheek together! Come join...

Showing I don't understand why showing is bad...

Very good points. I still think a show is a show is a show.. but if the proper things are taught then it isn't all bad. It's hard to not group them all together I guess..

    Petco sale on Pigloos - $4.99 (4/14/09)

My post was primarily for those who don't have the luxury of having a credit card to buy online.. petco's pricing isn't always that great - but for some, physical locations are their only options.. But if you do have the ability - stray away from Petco :) There - I said it. I'm happy now.

    Legos?

If your kid plays with them and they aren't made in china (ok bad joke I know) then they should be safe for your piggies. I would stay away from the smaller harder plastic ones since those can chip and cause sharper breaks, but the softer plastic ones probably are a better option. Man, I wish...

What do you keep your pellets in?

I use the same in my rescue - but I constantly weigh my piggies too so they don't overfeed. I don't give unlimited amounts in them either - but the hoppers do seem to keep them from peeing and pooing in the food now.

Attenion! Log Cabin is UNSAFE for Guinea Pigs

I call that pulling a PETA. Becareful to not get caught. You can get into some serious trouble doing that. I think they have to ask you to leave first, but not recommended - although I think it would be interesting to see post it notes across a store...

Attenion! Log Cabin is UNSAFE for Guinea Pigs

A rescue I had a while back had a wierd wooden hut thing that also had a nail in it. I didn't think much about it until now - I trashed it. I've never seen one like it since.

    Very frustrated!

I prefer glass bottles because I can boil them if necessary to disinfect them. I don't think dishwasher washing would do a lot of good since it has such a tiny hole for the spout, but I've never tried. They are more expensive and yes they can break easier - but generally come with a super cool...

Showing I don't understand why showing is bad...

I guess I won't mention that my neighbors who got me into the 'biz' raised buns and pigs too... the pig cages they had measured maybe 1x2 at the most. And I think I'm being generous. They were stacked 10 high and 10 across. the only thing that separated them was the hay in each of the cages.. I...

    Petco sale on Pigloos - $4.99 (4/14/09)

I don't shop @ Petco for personal reasons I'm sure a lot of folks agree with. I know a lot of people on these forums don't have a lot of options - especially if they live under their parents roofs.. So, I wanted to let everyone know if your looking for a pigloo - Petco has them on sale for...

Showing I don't understand why showing is bad...

Although it still sounds like a lot of fun and I have to admit it would be difficult for me to say no, I still see this as a doorway into the larger shows...

Showing I don't understand why showing is bad...

Some county fairs and carnivals have shows like this where you just get judged in general. No weight classes, no hair checks etc, making sure the animal is healthy and happy too ... I could go for a "show" like that. Something that judges for the positives, not perfection.

Showing I don't understand why showing is bad...

I'll pop my $0.02 in here on this one. I am an ex-breeder. I showed Guinea Pigs and Mini-Rex, Rex, Dwarf Hotot and Mini Lop rabbits under the TRBA and ARBA nearly 15 years ago. My guilt for breeding and showing these poor creatures is one of the reasons why I now choose to rescue instead. I...

Conditions Your opinion needed.. ovarian cyst or hernia?

One of my new rescues today went to the vet on the way home for a checkup. She had 2 cataracts in her eyes - and I wanted to get an opinion of her general health. She's overweight (she looks like a boar), shes seems to be loosing a lot more hair than I'm used to for a guinea pig, shes got...
