Adopt vs. Buy want to get a guinea pig from the pet store.

I don't understand why anyone in some sort of power isn't doing anything about this. That video...and many others...show blatant animal cruelty. How in the world can these people NOT be held responsible for what they're doing to little lives. I, too, am guilty of getting my small critters...

    Vegetables Green Pepper Peels

Ly, If you "snap" the tips off of green beans, down the "seams" of the bean, there is oftentimes a string in that seam that you can pull off that will be attached to the snapped off tips. For what it's worth, I don't take off the strings and both piggers like green beans just fine.

    Hello!!!

Hi piggiecrazy. This site is great. I, too, am new and have learned tons just by reading over old threads and searching for things I'm looking for. You have quite the pig-load there, too! :)

    Hello all!

Oh, Wheek Weak... Riley came from a pet store. :( My DH got him for us as a surprise since he knew we wanted another guinea friend for CharleyCharley--but he is not the one who reads this site and didn't know about adoption vs purchasing--especially since CharleyCharley was a pet store...

    Behavior Incessant Butt Sniffing?

I've also read somewhere here that other piggies might follow around boars for their nutritious poop to eat. Plus, if your boar is impacted, he might be particularly pungent back there to other piggies.

    Cage Just some design questions

I agree with the hay rack idea. What i did was used the store-bought "litter" pan that fits in a corner...it has these two little hooks on it that I've attached to a corner in the kitchen area. It gets replenished daily. Hay should be very plenitful. CharleyCharley has to climb up into it...

    piggy hut?

I second the shoe box and tissue box ideas. Also, I've used a hand vacuum box, a soda can box, etc. Just "look outside the box" for some boxy ideas. I'm sure you'll find tons of ideas if you just look around your home.

Hay Wondering if I may have a hay allergy...

Or...perhaps get a box of those surgical gloves and wear those when you put hay in their cages. And wear long sleeves. Put the clothes directly into the wash after you fill their hay bins.

    Hello all!

Funny story: The other day, I was on Facebook talking about the new baby guinea and a co-worker of mine linked to that link with all the Guinea Pig clothes on it. Someone here linked to it as well. At any rate, DH saw the link and responded, "It figures you would have already found the Guinea...

    Hello all!

Thanks, aks. Does anybody else's hubbies look at you funny for all the work you go through making things nice for your piggers? I have to say--today, I went to Ross to look at some fleeces for the piggers' new cage. I came home with 2 $5 fleeces--one is green camoflage and the other is blue...

    Hello all!

I just made my cavy cage! I just made my cavy cage! I found another box of grids at Bed, Bath and Beyond--the last box there, too! I had them put it on hold for me and told the hubby to go pick it up after work. I've been working on the cage since 6:30 this evening. It's 12:30 am and it is...

General I need more Cavy Info please

Hi MomaCass. I'm relatively new here too and have found tons of information simply by reading all the posts and stickies. The nutritional chart is phenomenal, the instructions for making the cage is great, and just about any question you have has already been answered somewhere, simply search...
