Sabriel-

Some people on this site need to wait a awhile before jumping on the newbies.

Yes, I know that the main point of this forum is for cages, and building cages, but there's always another day to lecture people about beukding one. It's not the end of the world.

Re: The Airing of Grievances

New members need to read the text written when you post a new message. It's as simple as that - then they would realise that this is a pro - rescue etc forum.

p.s. I always say hello to new members!

Re: The Airing of Grievances

It's a cage building site. If you can't tell that from the site and it's focus then you are really missing the point. There is a reason there are bolded messages all over the place here.

If someone joined my forum and trashed anime, Japanese culture, Neopets and computer geeks then I'd tell them, that this isn't the forum for them. Not all of my members like all of those things, but they respect that other people do and say out of the topics they don't care about.

If you are a newb and get told that you should adopt your pig or you're told to build a C&C then you will learn from you mistakes. I did. If you just plain don't agree then maybe you just really don't fit in. Maybe there is another community where that person would fit in better. A store bought cage & pig forum or something like that.

Oh, anime! I'm suddenly getting an interest for that - my latest sketchbook is crammed with those styled drawings

Re: The Airing of Grievances

Sabriel-

I just said in my last post that the main point of this forum is for cages, and building cages. Do people on this site trash anime and junk all around? I don't see any.

It's really not about "fitting in" here. Say, I went to a different forum, and I didn't agree with some things the people said, that dosen't mean I don't "fit it".

Re: The Airing of Grievances

That's a big mistake. You suddenly changed the meaning of what I said.

I find if a person spends all of thier time on a forum going against the flow maybe that person would be happier with like minded individuals. When anybody who joins a community with different views, they run the risk of being told they are wrong. If that person doesn't mind, then sure stay on. But if that person is the type of person that can't stand being told they are wrong then they should, for thier own happiness seek out like minded individuals.

Anytime you join a group of people there is a set of rules that the top of the hiarchy set out. In this group it's about rescues, big cages and animal rights. In other groups its other topics. The majority and the strongest people in the group will have the strongest message when it comes to viewpoints. Safety in numbers. Those with differing view points will be seen as non-conformists. Some people really like this and go out of thier way not to conform for various reasons. Some people will just not conform because the genuinely think otherwise.

This is what happens when you get a large group of people. When people don't like big group dynamics then they gravitate to smaller groups.

The human phyche is an interesting thing to study. I get the same thrill when contemplating cavy herd dynamics.

guineagurl: Here is some advice you offered??
Edit, And I also don't think you had any right to give Sabriel advice ??

How on earth do you safely enclose a pen that size??? Thats feet right?

I hope you don't have foxes where ever you live!

But is it fair to ask him to just "ease up" when he said it effects him enough that he has trouble breathing?

His is not a stupid site at all. It's comment's like that which get people annoyed with you and then you wonder why you get insulted. If it's so stupid, why are you here?

Slap recently turned 17 years old and lives in the U.S. Figurative language might define cruel used in this post as impertinent, impish, impudence, levity, lightness, mischievousness, pertness, playfulness, rather than “cruel”: 1: lacking or showing kindness or compassion or mercy or 2 : causing suffering and pain

guinragurl, please be more global and sensitive in reply's. Ease up!![b][i]

Re: The Airing of Grievances

Just thought I'd throw my tuppence into the fun!

I have three piggies and a small bunny and they all live together in an outside run.
The rabbit is blind and has recurrent infections in both eyes, and is looked after by the oldest piggie.

I have wanted to be honest about how I keep my animals for some time, but have been too scared - some people can be a little forthright at times.

Let's see how this goes - I would add that I am an adult (without any particular mood swings) and have been keeping animals in this way for over 20 years now without any problems. They all have hay, fresh veggies, shelter, the run is fully enclosed and proof against all local wild and domesticated animals and my annual vet bills will attest to the fact that I do keep an eye on their health!

Please, everyone, have your go at me now so I can get it over with...

What did I say that was not "global"?
What was wrong with

or

or
But is it fair to ask him to just "ease up" when he said it effects him enough that he has trouble breathing?

Did you look at the context in which those things were said?

Cruel is "usually" used to define abuse of sorts,
When was the last time you saw a not so nice situation described as levity, lightness, mischievousness, pertness, playfulness???

I have no idea why Im being picked out over this..gee wizz.

I don't see anything wrong with your arrangements at all. As long as the guinea pigs are fed guinea pig food not rabbit food (I'm sure rabbits could probably eat guinea pig food?). As long as they have adequate shelter to hide from the sunshine in the summer, and from the cold in the winter, I don't see a problem. After all, wild cavies are native to the Peruvian Andes, so I'm sure they can acclimatise to outdoor temperatures.

Global: My opinion is Sabriel wasn't in need of advice.

How on earth do you safely enclose a pen that size??? Thats feet right

Global: A pen that size must be difficult to enclose.

His is not a stupid site at all. It's comment's like that which get people annoyed with you and then you wonder why you get insulted. If it's so stupid, why are you here?

Global: Calling a site stupid is unkind. What did you mean by stupid?

I have no idea why Im being picked out over this..gee wizz.
Because you are bright and caring cavy person and can respond with your knowledge in a way people can hear. If you annoy them, they won't hear you.

Re: The Airing of Grievances

Ok first of all, if you did your homework properly you would know, I never called this site stupid, someone else did,,,,,,,,!! What I wrote was in reply to someone else who is now banned I believe.. they called this site stupid..I replied with THIS IS NOT A STUPID SITE?!?!?!?
Im not even wasting my time on the enclosing a pen one, it was a simple question.
And if I annoy you or anyone else... feel free to ignore me, I really don't give a rat's!

Did you even read what I wrote? Your the one with a attitude accusing me of something you seem to know nothing about ...
The stuff you quoted makes no sence, your just trying to cause trouble.

Re: The Airing of Grievances

They all eat guinea-pig pellets... the rabbit actually prefers them to the same brand of rabbit pellets - it was the ultimate "blind testing"... According to the list of ingredients on both packets, the only difference is extra Vit C in the piggy type, and as Vit C is water soluble any excess is excreted unused by the bunny. I suppose that our lawn must be extra piggy-friendly as it is regularly fertilised by Vit C-enhanced bunny wee. Does anyone know anything about Vit C uptake by growing grass?
On an extra note, I have just discovered something the pigs love. We live quite rurally and get a lot of crops appearing in our flower beds this time of year. I tried them on a few shoots of young barley - they loved it! We had three pigs on one stalk at one point. I shall have to grow some next year.
