Well I am sorry but I am leaving this Forum. I have recieved nothing but private message after private message from mods about things like the photos I submitted, to my punctuation, to my use of captials. :sorry:
Now I have dyslexia I don't want to be reminded every other sentance how much it sucks.
Sorry but there is such a thing as over moderating, you can delete my account I shall find another site where they might not crack down so much for every imperfection I make.>(
Honestly its like you watching over peoples shoulders just waiting for them to make a mistake, whilest your site is informative there is no way I can post further without being picked up every post I make its irritating and upsetting.:sad:
Yes I did read the guildlines but I come online to relax not to have to watch my post like I am trapped in english class, you took all the fun out of this forum for me.

I'm really very sorry you feel that way.The mods do what they do to make this forum enjoyable for everyone. It is not personally tailored to fit what you want it to be. You either like it or you don't.
Personally, I think your losing out on great information for your pigs and meeting great people. The mods aren't "out to get you". They're actual people trying to enforce the rules this site was set-up with.
Actually, I've made some pretty awesome friends through this site because of the mods.

No, your account isn't going to be deleted. If you don't want to continue posting here, I'm sorry to hear it, but it's really as simple as not doing so, and there's no reason to have your account deleted to accomplish that.

It's extremely childish that you've decided to make such a petty matter public, and as I told you in private message, it's as simple as reading the rules and making an effort at following them. I'm sure there are many members who, like you, have a learning disability or other impairment, as well as many for whom English is not a first language, and they manage just fine.

I find it extremely coincidental that for your flouncing post you're seemingly able to follow the guidelines for capitalization and grammar without any issue but find it impossible otherwise.

The forum rules exist as they do to keep this forum as clean and easy to read as possible, considering it's an adult level, international forum. The rules on photos of pet store cages or outdoor hutches exist because the owner of this site has worked long and hard to spread the word on the value of appropriately sized and placed cages to give the little animals we all love the best lives possible, and that does not include a pet store cage, so photos are not allowed in the galleries. If you can't or don't respect the rules, that's your business, but there's no reason to try to change it or share with everyone how ridiculous you think it is. It's all been said before.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last to have a photo deleted or be asked to capitalize your words where appropriate. You also aren't the first to make it a public issue, and this forum will go on just fine whether or not you find it's to your liking. The point is to give our guinea pigs the best that we can, and if you can't be troubled to find the shift key and use it so that your guinea pigs might have a better life by the information you'd gain by staying, then I don't know what to tell you.

Should you change your mind, you're welcome to pop back in, as this forum will still be here, over-moderated as it is.

I don't like it I am currently deleting my details I would like to delete my posts but it doesn't seem I can do that, if maybe the atmosphere was a little more forgiving it would have been a nice place, I have worked hard for years against my learning difficulties in college and special schools, it is highly demoralising to have someone have a got nit picking at post anyway I am nearly done deleting my details then I am out of here to find another site.

I certainly hope you'll be able to find a forum that will cater to your personal feelings and whims. The rules existed long before you joined and it's certainly not meant to demoralize you or anyone else for your learning disability. If you could step back and look at the whole situation, maybe grow up a little bit, you might realize that it's most certainly nothing personal, no matter how hard you might try to make it so. Your pigs would most certainly benefit from you doing so, and that's really what's most important.

Sorry to hear that. My baby sister suffers from dyslexia also. It's hard for a non dyslexic person to comprehend the trouble it can cause. I do hope you stay on this site. And maybe in the future to send a private message to mod's about the difficulties you have with having dyslexia .

I dont think it matters to them, frankly I dson't need to be upset when I am doing my best and all I get is pms picking at my mistakes. After all if they made allowances for me which I highly doubt then they would be " cater to your personal feelings and whims," and disabilities, also I had to 'grow up' young I have two disabled grandparents to care for and don't appreciate such a suggestion when you know little or nothing of me, I have done my best it was not good enough my profieles deleted I cannot it seems edit my posts so this is my last message on this site.

Okay, excuse me. The problems you've had and been corrected for are cussing, for posting photos showing improper care, for flouncing, and for absolute lack of capitalization. The first three haven't anything to do with a learning disability, and perhaps only if you stretch it can you say that an inability to use the shift key (which I might add you seem to have started doing with your flouncing) might have anything to do with being dyslexic.

I find it insulting that you're attempting to make an issue out of the moderators not being sensitive to your dyslexia when 1)you don't bring it up until you wanted to make it a public matter, and 2)the things for which you've received infractions aren't affected by a learning disability, except possibly the capitalization, although that's really a stretch. Blaming your dyslexia for cussing, flouncing, and posting improper photos is highly unfair and frankly, does a disservice to those with dyslexia, including yourself.

We've had many dyslexic members over the years and I know and understand about the disorder. However, it does not prevent a person from following the rules. Most of the infractions (3 of the 4) you received were only warnings and they came with no actual points attached to them. We aren't picking on you. We issued you the same infractions anyone else would get for not following the same rules.

I have disabilities myself, but I don't use them as an excuse to not follow rules.

I don't appreciate your comment. It's rare that i get into conflict with members. I say me piece and leave,But you ratteled my cage. If you opened your eyes you would see i was trying to befriend you as i know that dyslexia can be a problem at times. But looking at your post i don't see any of the classic signs of dyslexia . Just lazyness.

You can always just lurk on the forum and read through the posts you find helpful. You can still learn a lot of useful information that way, and you won't be criticized for anything.

Hey sweetie.

I am very sorry to hear about your dyslexia. I, too, suffer from a learning disability, but it happens to be a visual-motor skills disability which drastically hinders my ability to perform mathematical functions. (It took me four years to successfully pass Algebra I.) I can empathize. I hope that you can eventually work through it, but I know it is a struggle as it was (and still is from time-to-time) for me.

One thing you must be aware of, however, is that the owner of this forum is extremely strict on EVERYBODY, as are the moderators who are delegated to help maintain this forum. There have been a number of breeders, trolls, spammers, and flame-starters here; not to mention, a number of folks that do not post appropriate (I.E. in accordance with proper housing guidelines) photos of cages/animals. Believe me, I have had a few PMs and warnings about my photographs as you have--and I pretty much reacted the same way. I read the rules, but I REALLY had to study them in addition with my photo and then realize that it just wasn't up to this administrator's standards. I know that you must feel berated, but it is not a personal attack (though it may seem like one.) All of us, starting out as "Newbies" have, at one time or another, been warned or PMed for minor details we failed to pay attention to. If they seem abrasive, it's not that they're bad people--they are simply trying to follow their administrator's rules without losing their patience. (They deal with upwards of...oh, I can't cite the numbers, but a TON!!! of new people, posts, threads, questions, PMs, photographs, etc. so it's no wonder they may appear to be singling you out when in fact they are not.)

There have been a number of posts similar to this thread, but it has become a non-issue for the most part because the PMs from the moderators are attempting to remind folks the right and wrong ways in being a member here. It IS strict. This is actually why I don't post photographs anymore, because I just don't have a keen enough eye or judgement in deciding whether it is appropriate or not, so I opt to just post an occasional photo here or there in a thread versus on the website's gallery.

I am sorry that you feel the need to leave, but I DO hope you will stick around and read any information that may be conducive to your cavy(ies) well-being and happiness. Indeed, there are other forums, (I belong to another in addition to this) in which they are much more lax about how and what you may post. However, the information tends to be very disputable, as there are pro-breeders AND anti-breeders co-owning the forum, as well as folks that haven't had nearly as much experience and knowledge as those that have on this site. This site is owned, operated, and moderated by folks that are 100% rescues only, and as such, have seen the deplorable conditions that poor, defenseless creatures (not just guinea pigs, but various animals of all kinds) have been kept in; therefore, they have a founded rationale in being the way they are here. Can they come off as abrasive at times? Sure. Are they putting the animal first though above the human emotions? Absolutely. Sometimes these two can really come into conflict with one who tends to be overly sensitive to the way certain facts are worded. I happen to be one of them myself at times. I am sorry that you feel the way you do.

Please, just try though to realize how hard it is to maintain a website run through mostly (I think??) charitable donations and the owner's actual pocketbook. They do the best that they can to address everyone, but they cannot appease everyone's emotions. I really hope that you can understand this.

LAZY! Now thats cold.
I do have dyslexia I was about to apologize and come back cause I want whats best for Honey and Ginger, I attended the DORE program for over a year till they closed down and left me with nothing but a debt and shattered dreams of a cure.
With this dang tumor the meds give me severe mood swings I am sorry, its just I try so hard, I am always being knocked down and it hurts cause I am trying so hard to do what the site says for my piggies.
akstrohm you are so nice that way I can keep a eye out for good info on my piggies, I wont deny this is a good site for the piggies.

guineapiggies86, all we ask is that you follow our rules and try the best you can. Double check your posts for things like capitalization, punctuation and spelling before hitting the submit button. Believe it or not, I have to do that every time I post because I tend to type so fast that I transpose letters in my typing.

It's not a hard request to ask people to follow the rules and while it seems like we are strict and have a lot of rules, we mods have lightened up on some respects and aren't the "meanies" we are made out to be. We were charged with the task of enforcing the rules as part of being moderators.

We are not intentionally "knocking you down". We are only doing our jobs by enforcing the rules. Please don't take it personally. I've also found that if I get angry at a person, post or thread, I walk away from it and calm down then when I come back, I can respond in a nicer, calmer manner and it really helps. I encourage all members to do that.

Also if people give you advice, know that the majority of the time (especially from long time members and mods), it's good, sound trusted advice. If someone tells you that you could do this instead of that, it's in your pigs best interests. It doesn't mean that you are a bad owner or that you are contributing to animal cruelty. It just means there are better ways of doing things. A lot of us have done things "wrong" for our furry friends in the past, including me. That's why we are here, to learn, change and grow.

I will ask that in the future, if you feel like you don't want to further be a part of our forum, don't post about it publicly as it will end up like this post has and it will earn more infractions for flouncing. We ask all members who want to leave our forum for whatever reasons to do it quietly and not make public "flounce" posts.
