The very fact that you have this thread should tell you something! I'm done here...and I only lasted 2 days! What is this? The 3rd Reich?? Who needs this crap?? Get off your high horses! You aren't the GP GODS, alright?? I got in 'trouble' for using COLOR in one of my writings??!! Ever heard 'don't sweat the small stuff'?? And since I'm no @$#%$ kisser, this site is certainly not for me!! There are lots of other sites, much less ridged than this, and lots more GP info...I read about this site online, and the word they used was 'NASTY'....I get it! C-YA @$#%$ ! And I'm talking about you @$#%$ mods!

Nice! Personally, I like the fact that they keep things on an 'even keel' here. The place is meant to be for safe and educational discussions regarding guinea pigs and their care. If some allowances are made, then before you know it, the board becomes a free for all, and those safe and educational discussions become null and void. Believe me, I've been posting on boards for quite some time, most of them music oriented, and some of the antics on them would have you take up religion. Coming here is a nice respite, but if you have difficulty with the rules they wish to employ, then I can only wish you and your guinea pig(s) the best.....

I for one LOVE that this site is not infested with a bunch of people looking to cause trouble. The rules aren't hard to follow, being polite should be second nature to all. I have learned more here in a week, than I could have ever dreamed possible. My piggy, is better off for it and that is all any of us want, a happy healthy piggy. Isn't that the point of it all? Not our "personal' feelings.

Life is good and having the personal choice to leave is a great way to exercise your rights. Best of luck and health to you and your pigs.

I'm already sorry for saying this.. but something tells me it just has to be said.
But this person does have a small point. I've been browsing about this site myself and most people seem to LOVE discussion and arguing. While that in itself doesn't have to be a problem, most aren't exactly giving constructive criticism. Basically, new members that have different views get chewed up and spit out. Then burned, before it starts all over again. This is the only forum I've ever been to that I've been actually afraid to state my opinion about something, just because it differs slightly from others. And now I can just imagine someone reading this, just waiting to write down; "Then why the **** are you still here?!" Well, for this reason, last time I was here I got chewed out so badly, I just couldn't let it go. Every time I saw this site's name coming by, something you can't really evade if you're browsing the word 'guinea pig', I got these feelings of frustration and anger again that just wouldn't go away. So a few days ago, I decided, 'that's it!', I'll go back to that forum, and God help me, I WILL get some good memories from it to negate the negative. So here I am.. :| Sue me.
So maybe I'm responding to this kind of criticism worse than others. Which could very well be 'cause I've got a nice collection of psychological problems. But still, since I'm not the only one reacting badly, this might have some ground to stand on?

I think this is the most disrespectful thing that you can do. Using profanities on a site where children are reading this post. You don't even know the mods and you are putting them down. After all they have done to make this site fun and enjoyable and working for you, and the rest of us, you just swear away with out any consideration to the other members of this site.
If you don't like it, leave, but leave quietly, maybe a simple goodbye post not a profanity screaming filled one.
There are a bunch of other members that seem to comply with the rules. Plus the things you said you got flagged for were for things that are right in the rules. I mean the all color thing is right there when you go to post. SHEESH!
You have only been here for two days, and that isn't even enough time to get to know the members, to say hi to the mods, or for most of us, even read the rules. But if you have already made your decision, go ahead and leave.

My perspective is different. I made mistakes with my piggy and how I got him. Without this site, I would have not known any better. For that I'm extremely grateful.

Many of the people on this site (I'm guessing the mods and those in charge). Do GP rescue. Once you become involved in rescue of any type of animal, it changes how you think. You see the worst possible side of how animals are treated. You then become very passionate about educating people and trying to stop the horrors that many face on a daily basis.

Until you hold a animal in your arms, who's dying from neglect/abuse that you know could have easily been avoided, you can't understand the passion of trying to stop it.
If this site with it's rules can save one life, I can happily live with them.

I still think it is highly inappropriate for those words to be put on a forum period. We are all here to learn, and maybe build friendships, not be rude to each other...Why can't we all get along? I mean really? How hard is it to not make a bunch of drastic judgments about people you don't even know?

Apparently not, since the OP seems to think it's appropriate to use vulgarities and call names when she's told she's breaking the rules.

I'm new to guinea pigs. I came here for information, not friendship. I really appreciate that there are moderators who are keeping things on track. Not all feelings are equally important - when it comes right down to it, what really counts is the accuracy of the information given, whether or not it makes everyone feel equally warm and fuzzy.

I don't really understand why some people say they were "attacked" or "chewed up and spit out." No one who has ever said it really has been "attacked" or "chewed up and spit out."
We simply tell them in a nice way why we do not in any way condone breeders or petstores.
Has anyone who is okay with breeders and petstores ever been to a shelter? Not a rescue, a shelter?
It's terrible. Do you know how many animals die in shelters because nobody wanted them?

It truly breaks my heart when people are nasty to the mod's. They work really hard and take a lot of crap. The rules state that you are only allowed to use color for emphasis. This is one of the only forums I am on that I can read without having to worry about having to read something that is in lime green color. Or having to translate from a bunch of chat speak, not properly capitalized or punctuated.

I allow my 12 year old son to read some of these threads for educational purposes on GP's.

I would really appreciate it if all the profanity that has been used on this thread be deleted as soon as humanly possible.

The fact that this thread exist only tells me that there are whiners and lazy people who join but can't or won't bother to take the time to read the rules and philosophies of this forum before they do everything wrong and get corrected. And then those same lazy whiners feel compelled to post a "good-bye" rant telling everyone how horrible and mean and wrong the mods are. For heaven's sake, get over yourself.


The admin and mods have every right to want the posts to be easy to read - which includes not using excessive color, caps, bold, etc. It's THEIR site and they have rules meant to keep things factual and legible. If that makes them "mean" then I'd rather it be that way than have to sort through crap that's nearly impossible to read or understand.

The forum's beliefs on breeders are clearly stated and it shouldn't be a surprise to you or anyone that people here would be offended and annoyed by a person getting on here saying they plan to acquire an animal from a breeder. While thousands die in shelters for no greater offense than not being wanted.

So, please, go on to the "other" sites where anything goes and there's no structure or attempt to keep posts clean or information factual. Enjoy.

You've been sent several links to the rules. You should have read them by now. It's not that hard to follow them. It seems to me you are the one with the problem--not this forum. Is it really that hard NOT to post in colors or fancy fonts? All we ask is that the forum stay as fluff free and legible as possible. If you want to post like a unicorn possessed by an R rated crayon box there are plenty of teen sites that welcome that.
