I just want to throw my two cents in here. I'm not picking sides, but I want to say that this forum has been incredibly helpful. I'm a new Cavy owner and in the three days I have had mine, I have learned so much about what to do and what not to do. All that have posted on my threads have been helpful and considerate of my lack of knowledge. I will say that I don't agree with everything that is said in posts, the opinionated ones, but I just ignore it and move on. I've learned that if you let everything bug you, you won't get very far in life. Maybe it's just me, and the way I was brought up but people have opinions, and that's what makes the world far from being boring. |

Perhaps it isn't being abused, it's just that people keep on making new threads about the same thing. But, I guess that is why this forum was created, for people who want to complain about us to vent. My bad. |

Actually, this "Why can't we all get along?" forum was created so that we had a place to move those types of posts that get peppered throughout the forum. And of course, so that for those that really want to complain, might HOPEFULLY read their predecessor's complaints and read the usual logic and calm of the replies before they go off half-cocked and start a new one. Most of the time, I just find these threads entertaining. I look at the self-deprecating nature of this forum as a kind of public humility and also of not being afraid to air the grievances. |

What really worries me is the well-being of the guinea pig(s) that belong to people like the OP. If they can't handle something as simple as reading easy directions and posting properly, how on earth are they going to be able to properly care for a sentient being in a mature, responsible way in order to keep that pet as healthy as possible? It's a lot of work, time, and expense to care for cavies. If that is not a forum member's first, and foremost, concern...I worry myself sick about the piggy(s). When they are more concerned about nit-picking over whether they can use color, smilies, etc., rather than "what can I do for my cavy, what do they need, etc.", I get very concerned about the well-being of those little ones. |

What I realy don't get, is why a ton of people complain about not using COLOR. Seriously, how does COLOR help you learn about gp's. All the poeple who want color should stick to an art studio or coloring book. |

I personally love this website, and I appreciate the rules that are set in place. It keeps the forum simple and organized, no flashy distracting signatures or fonts, and its easy to read and post. I love it. I have no idea why people have to make a ranting post with obscenities and such anger to the forum. If you do not like this forum for whatever reason, then you can just simply choose to not visit the site. Why the need for a loud exit if you are not purposely trying to attract attention to yourself? I feel that the members of this website give good and educated advice. Some people sometimes think that the direct and specific advice that is given to them is insulting or aggressive or even pushy. It is not. Not only because you cannot determine somebody's intended tone via text and because the goal of the members on this forum is to help improve the lives of their guinea pigs as well as improve the lives of others guinea pigs by giving advice. I give a big Thank You to the creator and mods of this website! You are doing a great job! Last edited by lmarieaa; 04-01-09 at 06:30 pm. Reason: spelling mistake |

I must admit, I've been abused here over how I housed my gp's without people asking or knowing first. Even when I explained myself people here didn't understand, but I guess that is because I take it most people here are from the UK, and the weather here is different to there. And I admit, I find people here are quick to judge. But I actually like this forum, you ask a question and get informative answers pretty much straight away. Everyone is pretty nice and can be understanding. I sometimes find it annoying as I always forget to write captial I's lol, I just have to remember. I'm a member of Australian gp forums and they don't have any rules like that so I tend to forget, then I have to go back and edit it lol! Sometimes, also, it might seem like you're getting abused, but these people love gp's and are just worried about them, and I think it can seem a bit rude sometimes, but try and see it from their view-point. Maybe you can't do everything they advice, but try not to be stubborn about it. I find a lot of people here know a lot about gp's, but they don't really know my living situation or weather here, but I try and take on the advice I can to keep my gp's safe, healthy and happy and it sure does work! |

You people must have no regard for rules or being nice, because I have followed the rules and been nice to everybody, and you know what? I haven't been abused, yelled at, criticized, or anything that you people go on and on about. Grow up! There will always be people who aren't exactly what you enjoy, but you live with it. I received a few PMs about my threads but nothing major - I just accept it and move on! You should to. Don't get hung up on those things. This website is great for those who know how to be nice people and need to learn more about guinea pigs. And if you have complete disregard for these things, then yes, you probably would get yelled at! It's not rocket science. Some people are very opinionated on this website, I agree, but that doesn't mean all people are completely biased! And if they don't like the way you keep your guinea pigs, so what? As long as your pigs aren't outside in extreme heat or cold, or in the sun all day long, or are well cared for and held and exercised, then why is it a problem? Think about it. I wish people wouldn't just leave because of a few bad things. Examine your behavior before deciding to leave. Are you following the rules? If not, follow them! Are you being nice? If not, be nice! Use your brain! Well, so long! Why can't we all get along? I mean, really! Pick up your pride and move on. |
