Re: to our GPW visitors

I am not against anyone from anywhere being referred to this site and forum. It's just that if they want to be members they must follow the rules, have some respect and post like an adult and not act in such a childish or barbaric way. I too am mortified by many of the posts in just the last 10 minutes.

I agree, rules must be followed or the consequences will happen. What I don't understand is how these people could not understand this? And be so disrespectful?

My guinea pigs live in my bedroom in a cage that I can lay flat out in, and sometimes do to prove a point. It's clean, and big enough that I wouldn't hesitiate to climb into it. As well as being large enough for me to probably sleep in, it's two stories high, and then a third level for my batchlor guinea pig. You try and tell me that your hutches can compare to anything mine does, or for that fact any of the C&C cages? Have a seat in your cage, and tell me how great it is.

Re: to our GPW visitors

Katt, I think one of the main reasons is because many are children. When many hit those teens years they seem like they suddenly know everything, are always correct and don't have respect for anything or anyone. This I know from experience.

It's your picture you posted for the GPOW contest on GPW. I can't post it here as that would be copyright infringement but if you tell me I can post the picture I'm talking about here then I will be happy to.

Thats exactly what it seems like.^^^ They are testing bounderies & challenging anyone who points out their negative behaviour. The people here at Cavy Cages have stated their case so clearly, so many times & it's very easy to understand. My little boy's are in the center of our living area & we addore them as family members. I won't add to the case against breeding & showing because it's been sucessfully addressed. I think they come here to argue their case in the hopes that they will believe themselves.

Re: to our GPW visitors

The reasons members here tend to *attack* other members that breed. Is because we are trying to teach people that breeding shouldn't be done but certain members refuse too listin and that frustrates us because it are the PIGS that suffer from this.

There are Already so many guinea pigs out there that need a home, You can't say you rescue Pigs and then Breed them making the problem even bigger. If you want to rescue pigs, stop breeding and rehome those that need it first. When all the neglected guinea pigs have been rehomed in a good home, THEN we won't mind you breeding.

Re: to our GPW visitors

I'm still baffled that people are standing around in shock in indignation becuase "you guys attack breeders!"

Um, hello? The site is anti-breeding and pro-rescue. Now this may be hard to grasp, but that means we are against breeding. Talking about breeding is frowned up. It is stated in many places. Would you go to a parenting board, talk about how much you don't like kids, and then get all indignant when you were not treated as kindly as you hoped?

But, thanks to the magic of the internet if it really bothers you that much, you don't have to read it. You have a right to walk away. And especially to take the time to register for the forum, which is specifically against something that you do, and is paid for by a private owner, and then whine about how your point of view isn't supported... well. I won't say unkind things, but I've seen a much wiser use of time.

Exactly. It's not an attack, or even a judgement per se, to disagree with someone. And in my opinion, it's not even personal. No one is bringing up these people's names and pointing fingers, it's just an all-encompassing, "I don't like breeding, I don't agree with the animal overpopulation, and I'm going to speak out against it whenever I can."

Not sure who the "we" are in the statement but I am not one of them. If all the shelter/rescue and foster piggies find homes I will still be against breeding. I will still be against backyard breeding, mill breeding, kids breeding, and irresponsible breeding.

The thing is breeders are so very quick to take anything and everything personally. If they don't think a comment is about them they will convince themselves that it is about a breeder friend.
But as the old saying goes "If the cap fits..."

If we can't speak out openly and honestly about how we feel re breeding and the massive unwanted guinea population here...where can we?

Pro breeder sites are very quick to ban anyone who voices their opinion or who knows too much. Glancing through recent posts here, I think the mods here have been exemplary and I admire their wisdom and tolerance.

Taking things personally is a sign of a weak argument. If you can't make an arguement based soley on facts, you need to sit down, really think about your views, and find some facts to back them up. Good, solid, unemotional facts. "Well, you are just stupid." doesn't make people say "I may not agree with you, but I see your point of view."

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm tired of weak arguments. I've gotten too used to being trained in a profession that basically says. "Oh yeah? Prove it!" Emoting won't win you any cases.

I don't mean to bring this back up and I certainly don't expect Martha to reply (she better not as she's banned) but I just came across an email from Martha that I missed telling me I can go ahead and post the picture.

She also stated that I need to issue her an apology when I'm not able to post the proof.

To prove that I am not a liar I decided to go ahead and post the proof. Her username on the forum (not GPW is seems) is mlbarnes44 (same as on GPW). The thread the picture is in is located here
October Pet Of The Month Entries Scroll down, the picture was uploaded on Sept 29th 2006

The cage in the picture sure looks like it's made of plywood to me.
