Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

This may sound stupid; but I think one the reasons why proper grammar here is important is for International visitors they may need to have to use an online translator, but if the grammer is bad, it may not be able to translate it?

Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

You recently said on a Peta thread that you'd amended the forum ruels about peta? Do you mean the new statement on the kitchen or an amendment on another thread? Just wondering cos i wanted to read them thats all.

That's referring to the new statement at the top of the Kitchen section of the forum.

Ah, thanks. I wondered if that was due to recent Peta bashing.

Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

I hate bad words because it is very rude and is a bad example. Im not that good with spelling. I appriciate this website alot and get on when I need good quick answers. i-love-nev is very good at that and knows alot. He/she is comforting in every way. i-love-nev, if you are reading this, thanks. For others when posting think would a 7 year old be ok with your language?

Yours dearly,
lovepigs

Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

lovepigs- maybe you should read our rules again because you just broke two of our rules when you replied to this thread. Posting your age on our forum when under the age of 18 is NOT allowed. Digging up threads that are over 2 months old and replying to them is also against the rules.

Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

Just want to ask - Is it always better to start a new thread if theres no relevent thread less than 2 months old? Its just that most other boards hate people starting new threads if theres a relevent thread already, thats why I always try to post in an existing thread rather than make a new one. Here no one seems to mind people starting new threads. I'm not saying I prefer one way or the other, I'll do whichever the admin prefer. I just wanted clarification, thanks.

Re: Cavy Cages Posting Etiquette & Rules

If a thread is older than 2 months and you have nothing really beneficial to add to it, it's better to leave it alone and ask your questions in a new thread. If you have something beneficial to add to that post then it's ok to go ahead and post as long as the thread isn't really, really old (ie: 4 months or older). Also remember there is the forum search feature along with a specific forum search. Sometimes searching before asking questions can give you the answers you are looking for without having to post. This is especially helpful for topics on veggies, pellets, bedding, water bottle issues, mites/lice/fleas, bathing, URI's, etc. As those questions have been asked many, many times already.

In the case of picture threads, you can dig your own up and post more pictures on it rather than making new threads as we like members to have one photo thread only. Also if you have a post about a medical condition in a pig and you want to update it and it's been more than a couple months, that's fine as we like to have all that info together too so we know what happened before with the pig and how it's doing now.

What we highly discourage is members digging up threads that have been long dead and replying to them. Such as the case with lovepigs. He/she dug up 3 or 4 very old threads, all over a year old and replied to them. One was about a chat that has long since taken place. Anything over 4-6 months is pretty much considered truly well and dead and many of the members that may have been active 6 months ago may not be active now.
