Gallery Rule Reminder--ALL Members read!

There have been some problems in the gallery. I LOVE that we now allow pet pictures and I love seeing every-one's pets. Some of them are really sweet or funny.

However, you must insure that your picture is clear, crisp, well lighted and shows proper care.

I underlined proper because I am seeing a lot of pictures getting uploaded that contain seeds and colored bits in the food, seed treats, mineral and salt licks and even a couple that had cedar bedding.

Those pictures are inappropriate on a forum that is firm about providing animals with proper and exemplary care.

If inexperienced people look in the galleries for ideas they may see the poor food, treat sticks or mineral/salt licks and think that those items are acceptable. We simply cannot ignore that possibility.

I am asking all members, new and old, to look over the gallery rules and then go through your gallery photos. You may have an old picture in there that shows poor food or a salt lick in a cage. We all made mistakes in the beginning but hopefully we all learned and applied better care methods as our animal education grew. It's now time to purge those old pictures

If you are looking though the galleries and see a picture that shows improper care please send we a pm with the photo link in it. I will be happy to remove the picture. It is important to send me the link because simply telling me that there is a picture in "Open Cages" that has a seed treat in it is much too vague. There are hundreds of pictures in each of the galleries.

Failure to remove your own poor care picture could lead to an infraction so I hope you all take the time to edit yourselves if necessary.

I would also appreciate it if you also took the time to remove any photos you have in your gallery that are dark, blurry or on their sides.

I'm including the gallery rules below and I thank you all in helping to keep the house clean.

___________________________________________

PLEASE NOTE:
Proper size and SAFE! Your cage MUST provide a GROUND floor (or bottom level) space of at least 7.5 SQUARE FEET--REGARDLESS of upper levels provided. Your cage must be an INDOOR cage. Outdoor runs and play areas are acceptable, but not cages or hutches.

No commercial or pet store cages! Under any circumstances. If you have some great purchased cage that meets our cage requirements, please post about it in the forums and get permission to post a photo of it first.

Not another Cozy or Hidey House Photo! We are looking for EDUCATIONAL or INFORMATIONAL photos. Others browse the galleries looking for IDEAS and examples. We really don't need another cozy photo. Pictures of your appropriate cage or unique accessory or toy or other related photo are more than welcome.

Clear, crisp, well lit photos only! If your picture is blurry, dark or on it's side or if we can't clearly see or tell what the picture is of it will be deleted.

Place pictures in the proper section. If you misfile a picture it will get moved or deleted.

Pet pictures are allowed but you must place them in the appropriate section and they must be of guinea pigs. We will not accept other animals in the photos.

No pictures of guinea pigs cohabitating with other animals. If you upload a photo of a pig sharing living space or floor time with another species, such as a rabbit, chinchilla, dog or cat, it will be deleted.

Pictures showing proper care. Please insure that you understand and follow proper care for your pets. If your picture showcases improper food, supplements or care it will get deleted. This includes pictures that show food with seeds, nuts, dried fruit/veggies or colored bits in it, seed treats and salt/mineral licks.

Any and all violations may earn you an infraction

Re: Gallery Rule Reminder--ALL Members read!

I'm bumping this up because I just had to delete a few new pictures that contained salt/mineral licks. I'm giving the people that uploaded them a break BUT don't expect that to continue. If those sorts of pictures keep getting uploaded, especially by members who I know have already been issued a gallery infraction and thus were sent a copy of the gallery rules or by members that have been around long enough that they should be familiar with the rules, then infractions will be getting handed out. The only explanation they will be getting is a link to this thread.

For those of you that have been cleaning house THANK YOU! I really appreciate it! I also want to thank those of you that forwarded me links to inappropriate photos and an extra big THANKS to the member who alerted me of the spammer that was posting links in the gallery comments.

Re: Gallery Rule Reminder--ALL Members read!

Well, some people just won't or can't read and abide by the rules. I have deleted several new photos that were uploaded since I posted this announcement.

The infractions are now going out.

Read the rules, understand the rules and follow the rules and above all understand that the rules are in place to insure you are properly caring for your pet. If you have seeded food, seed sticks, salt/mineral wheels or other improper foods, snacks or items in your cage, please remove them at once.

Re: Gallery Rule Reminder--ALL Members read!

The mods and admin have held a "meeting" so to speak. It has been decided that all photos that show guinea pigs sharing undivided space with another species (the only exception being humans) will be deleted and no longer allowed.

If you have a picture that fits that category in the gallery please help us out and remove it. I will be going through the galleries over the next few days and removing all that I find. I will not be issuing infractions at this time as the rule (now updated) seemed to be vague for some people.

Re: Gallery Rule Reminder--ALL Members read!

Is there any place you can put this thread so that members can more easily see it? I just barely noticed it when I was browsing the forums. Just thought that might be an idea to help get the word out a bit more.
