What do the colored dots by your name mean?

I just noticed that the "dots" or circles by everyone's names have different colors. Does this have a special meaning? Thanks.

Green means that person is online, on the site. Grey means they are offline, or not on the site. The mods can also see some red dots that mean that the person is online but is using invisible mode which means that they chose not to let people know they are online and always have a grey dot visible to regular members.

Thanks, at some point I managed to get a red dot, and I have no idea how I did it. I must have triggered it by mistake since I don't know how to become "invisible". (Boy would I dearly love to learn that trick in the real world though!)
