Vegetarian eggs in store? Not real?

I went to Dierbergs the other day to get some eggs and some other things.. Well while looking at the eggs, there are eggs that are "Vegetarian Eggs". It says nothing added or anything of the sort, and says free range, so could these be real? They're brown like my uncle's eggs that are brown.. But I've heard that when they say free range or something they are all crowded together in a barn usually. Are these probably just the same?

There is no such thing as vegetarian eggs! Well, when it says free range over here, they are free range. The boxes are stamped with the RSPCA symbol. I think what you are describing is free range, organic eggs - these are the one's that I eat.

Re: Vegetarian eggs in store? Not real?

I buy Egglands best organic eggs and it says on thier packaging. (inside lid)
" Every hen selected to lay Egglands best organic brown eggs nests in a pleasant, cage free, natural environment. They are fed all natural, all-vegetarian diet consisting of healthy grains, and no animal fat or animal by-products. They never use antibitics, steroids, or hormones of any kind. "
Hope this helps.

There's two kinds of "Veggie" eggs. One is a fake egg made of protein and grains and such and the other is just dairy products laid by hens in a natural enviroment with no steroids or hormones. But I've never like eggs anyway. Haha.

I saw those too the other day, I think they're just free-range.

Re: Vegetarian eggs in store? Not real?

Yeah, I think they are too, but there are labels that say "Free range" that really are just cramming the animals inside a barn without a cage.

Piglet- The label IS Vegetarian Eggs. XD
I didn't know if they were real or not... >_< I've never seen them before in stores, I guess they probably just came out or something.

Re: Vegetarian eggs in store? Not real?

If it says that they're "free ranged," that usually means that they have the ability to run around and cluck and do whatever they please as long as it includes laying eggs. But as it's been mentioned, this rarely happens.

Since the label said "vegetarian," that means that they just haven't been fed animal products themselves. It doesn't really mean that the eggs themselves aren't really eggs [which is what I gather that you were asking?]
