difference between vegan and vegetarian?!

whats the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan? ive heard a vegan doesnt eat or drink dary or meat or anything, is this true?

Yes that is true but there is more. A vegan does not drink milk, eat cheese etc Basically any dairy products. Also they will not wear any animal products such as leather, wool, suede, fur.

Vegetarians do not eat meat and fish. But they still eat and drink dairy products, and some, will wear animal products.

I'm a bit of both - I don't eat fish or meat, I don't wear leather or suede. I do drink milk though

same here, i dont like wearing dead animals... or eating them but i like milk

hate to break it to you, but the dairy industry is just as bad the meat industry. I know I say I drink it, but against my will. When I'm working I'll buy my own soy milk and cheese etc.

i know that its really bad, but im not ready to give up milk JUST yet :P

That's ok - everything doesn't have to be given up overnight. Do things gradually because it's easier and less of a shock to the system! I turned veggie overnight which was the wrong thing to do. I kept on slipping up by eating meat and then I felt guilty about it. With fish, it took me a good 6 months to give up.

well, after seeing meet your meat, ive decided im going to try to go vegan too. i dont think it will be TOO hard, i can drink juice instead of milk, i like milk, but i like saving animals more.

You really need to pay attention to ingredients and what's going into your body. That's why I'm not a vegan yet. I totally support the cause, but I'm going to have to wait until college to start transitioning. After that, I can get whatever food I'll need. Soymilk is also great! I can't even really taste the soy aftertaste anymore like I could straight off when I started.

It would be a lot easier on my family, for one. They aren't exactly supportive of me even being vegetarian. However, I am going to try and cut things like eggs and milk out of my diet as often as I am able to. I think I'll be able to try and start now, even. I don't know how I would start! I eat breakfast at school, so that would need to stop, meaning I'd need to get up earlier. I can do that, though. Lunch would be another bit of a problem. I already have problems finding things to eat. Many veggie products have milk/eggs in them. I would need a lot of support and would really need to research. I don't always have time to cook, and this would mean that I'd need to every day, not just sometimes. I can do this much, but I won't be able to go full vegan until college or aftwr, I don't think. Traveling would be so hard and everything I do with friends would be a little limited. I understand that I should do it now, as it's being a bit hypocritical--which I hate. It's just going to be so much harder.

oh, yeah i never thought of that, yeah i will just end up eating VERY simple meals every day, that dont take too long to cook, heh heh heh

That's what I found myself doing - DON'T do it! I realised that I ended up eating pasta nearly everyday because it's easy to cook. Make the effort - vegetarianism is meant to be healthy remember

yeah, simple, a salad and broccoli then some spinach with whatever other vegetables i have in the fridge etc
