| Everyone, i need all of your help, or i will not be allowed to be a Vegetarian anymore! I am 14, play sports almost everyday, and am extremely petit! I just got bloodwork done, and it turns out that i am not getting enough protein in my diet. My mom talked to the doctor and told ner that i have been a vegetarin for a little over two weeks now, and the doctor said i HAD to eat meat because of how fast my metabolism is! As you can probably understand, i became furious and told my mom i was never going to eat meat again. I do eat fish though because it is so hard to find stuff to eat in my house, being i am the only vegetarian. So please, can anyone give me suggestions or recipees HIGH in protein! I have looked on a lot of recipee sites, but none have nutrition on them! PLEASE HELP ME! FOR ANIMALS SAKE! |

| Re: I Need Help!!!!!!! Eat soy meat. Where do you live, in Canada Schnider's (a normal meat company bought out by Maple Leaf Foods) just started a vegan line called Oh Naturel. It's supposed to give you all the things meat had without the well, meat. Go to your local helath food store. I'm sure they have alternatives. And you said you were vegitarian, not vegan right? Why don't you crack a few eggs or try protien shakes? (I think they are vegitarian) |

| Re: I Need Help!!!!!!! Ok, I see that this is a bit old, but since I didn't get to it before, I'll try to address this now. You're going to need to take a multivitamin with 100% iron and B12 if your stomach can handle it. That's not for protein, I know, but it's a great help in the long run. As for protein, eat soy 'meats'. Soy nuts have 1/3 of their weignt in protein and very little fat compared to peanuts, etc. Try drinking more milk/soymilk, eating more cheese/soy cheese, and bagels/breads also have protein. Protein bars (from veggie sources) can also be a great asset. I've found that Balance Bars are really good, almost like candy bars but with vitamins etc. They have 25% or more of your protein. Good luck, and don't give up! |
