    Becoming a herbivore..

So I got my free vegetarian starter kit a couple of days ago from peta. So as I was reading it I really thought about my health and the sake of these animals. A couple weeks ago I said I should do this slowly because I read you can get headaches if you switch cold turkey, and that really didn't work out so well. So the other morning my mom offered me steak for lunch and I rejected it and found myself scrambling around my kitchen trying to find something to eat. At last I ate oatmeal. So technically I'm not a vegetarian until I finish my vitamins that contain fish. So this is hard since my mom refuses to go food shopping until next week. All I can get to last me is a bag of mixed fruit I'm rambling but I would really love for you guys to recommend me some recipes, tips, and advice. No headaches yet. I had pizza today. I felt bad. I'm really yearning for fresh veggies and fruit. Also for my mom thinking I won't get my sufficient vitamins can I take multi-vitamin just in case some days I don't get my protein from my food? Thanks in advance.

    Lacto ovo, or vegan(aka, herbivore)

Lacto ovo vegetarian eats no meat(some 'vegetarians' eat poultry), but eat eggs & cheese.

Vegan eats no animal products, uses no products tested on animals or with animal products, they wear no fur of leather or silk.

Pescetarian: a vegetarian type diet that includes fish.

I really recommend VegWeb.com - Vegan Recipes and Cooking Tips (the recipes there are vegan, but you can easily substitute butter for margarine, etc) for recipes.

A multivitamin might help with any vitamins you are missing. I take alfalfa & kelp(2 alfalfa tablets & one kelp).

If she is worried about omega 3's, flax oil is high in omegas, and it's made from flax(instead of fish).

A really good grain , is, quinoa. It is very high in protein. Barley is good too(who can resist some home made tomato barley soup? I know I can't!!!).

Thanks. I'll definitely look out for those things in the supermarket. I sadly tried to make a joke with the herbivore thing. Ya I found this great website for recipes and tips where to get some calcium, protein, etc., thanks though checking out the website now.
