Confessions of a meat eater.

I have a gross story. I bought ground beef for spaghetti sauce. After I prepared it, I took one bite and nearly threw up. The meat was packed with what my husband referred to as "cartelidge". There was all sorts of rubbery, chewy bits a long with all the fat. That's never happened to me before. I am never buying ground beef again.

I couldn't eat it and i put it in a Tupperware container (no idea why, thought maybe my husband would eat it, but he was just as grossed out as I was)..
Couple of days later, after having it rot in my fridge, I took it out to dump it in the trash. Just having to look at the nastiness, and all the orange fat lumped around the meat. I can't believe I could of eaten all the fat and chopped up cow. What insane person could actually eat that? I guess i've been insane forever.

I am not an official vegetarian yet. I need to start slow. But I finally "get" vegetarians. I need to learn how to cook vegetarian before I take the plunge completely.

I think of how clean my kitchen and body would be if I didn't consume animal products. I would love to live off of vegetables, fruits, brown rice, and seeds. That's my goal this year..

Ground Beef is a mixed of parts. What is left from the cuts if you preffer. I don't mind eating anything that comes from an animal. But, if it looks gross I wouldn't have eaten it too. Hot dogs are another scary thing.

That sounds gross. And yes I am a meat-eater too.

I figured ground beef was some sort of mixture, but ground beef has been a weekly staple at our house forever. I've never had any hard bits in my meat before. It wasn't just like 1 or 2. You could see it all over. It was in every bite!
Blehh!

Re: Confessions of a meat eater.

That is disgusting. Yeah, hot dogs are pretty scary.
That's great that you are going vegetarian! Fruit....I love fruit, pretty much any fruit except for peaches and pears (although I haven't tasted some fruit). I like salads, too. And rice, and bread, and seeds, I could go on. But I'll stop. You'll like vegetarian food. I pretty much eat the same stuff every week (my mom has a menu with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and each time it's something different but it doesn't really change, with the occasional different food) because I'm an extremely picky eater.

I am a really picky eater as well! I pretty much eat the same 5 things on a daily basis.
I need to go grocery shopping so I can stock up on vegetarian items. Even things that I thought weren't made with animals ARE. It's crazy.

Re: Confessions of a meat eater.

Yeah, I know. And I never get tired of the things I eat, surprisingly. My mom doesn't see how I'm so picky, but I just am. It's even textures that I'm picky about. Or the taste+texture combined.
Talking about this reminds me of veggie pizza. Oh veggie pizza! I haven't had that in a while, and it is my all time favorite food! You give me veggie pizza, and I am your friend for life!
