Anyone know about Raw Food diet?

Well its not really a diet but a way of changing your eating habbits. I saw on tv like dateline or something about eating raw foods and how its healthier. I was just wondering if anyone does that or if they know more about it?

Re: Anyone know about Raw Food diet?

I've heard of feeding dogs/cats a raw diet, but that doesn't seem like a great idea to me. Eating raw vegetables seems more sensible as some nutrients do get broken down with cooking, but meat should definitely be cooked. There are all kinds of diseases that like to hang out in meat. And even veggies aren't necessarily safe, either- didn't some people die from those salmonella tomatoes a couple weeks ago?

Lol Alusdra, but ittybitty wasn't talking about raw meat, per say. Just raw plant products. Besides, who wants to eat an animal???

Re: Anyone know about Raw Food diet?

Thanks for the book tip!

Yah I dont remember if they eat raw meet or not and if so I would think it was sushi. But with the tomatos most people eat those raw, some dishes require cooking them. But salads you dont cook them so. They would have been sick either way.

Re: Anyone know about Raw Food diet?

I figured she wasn't talking about raw meat, this being the vegetarian section, but you never know. Note, for example- that the linked book description mentions raw meat as well.

Re: Anyone know about Raw Food diet?

I have been working on changing my diet to raw. It is not always easy. Like any diet it needs to be balanced. I feel a lot better eating this way. You are cutting out meats and meat by products. I make my own nut milks. I can eat pecan pie for breakfast - no guilt and healthy. There are some great books on eating raw and a great place to check out is goneraw.com/
