Just thought this was an inspiring story.

My spanish teacher was a meat lover and eater, she is 27 years old and thus she has eaten meat for 27 years of her life. She shared a story with us about how and why she became a vegetarian and alot of other people in my class have been turning over to veggies now because of her story. Well, she is actually Italian and she has many family members in Italy. But since many members in her family are also American, they celebrate Thanksgiving. So she went to Italy as her family all gathered there to celebrate and in Italy, they have seperate shops for seperate kind of things you need, they do not have grocery stores with different sorts of food in one store. (Example, if you wanted Vegetables you have to go to a vegetable store) Anyhow, my teacher and her sister went to the meat store and at the store they had to pick out a turkey. The man who worked there said he would be right back, my teacher and her sister heard a gun shot and the man returned with the turkey, not alive obviously, and placed the turkey in a box. I am not going into it, but she went into great detail about how she had to pluck him, cut him open, and take out the insides. Well, ever since that day, she hadn't eaten one bit of meat. That night she didn't even eat the turkey she had made. I just thought this story would be good for anyone having difficulty getting inspired.

I think if more people had to prepare their own meat like that we would have more vegetarians in the world!

Re: Just thought this was an inspiring story.

The reason my friend went veg isn't because I shared with him all the cons of what happens to the animal he eats and how unhealthy it can be; it was because he had a dream, well rather a night mare.

He was eating an animal, he bite right into the animals skin and just keep eating it. When he woke up he was done with meat. He said it was the most disgusting thing he has ever even thought about or saw or anything. He was seriously disturbed by it!

Re: Just thought this was an inspiring story.

It's odd because my mum even says "If I had to catch my own meat to eat, and kill it, I wouldn't eat it, but I don't so I do". Annoys me alot because it It just shows how detached people are from what they consume...none of us really would be able to catch our own food in the wild if it wasn't for weapons anyway, because we'r not as skilled as the majority of other animals...sure people say we are suppose to tear at meat with our canine teeth but seriously, look at them, if we snarled at a carnivore they would just laugh at us...

Re: Just thought this was an inspiring story.

I agree.
Though I personally, am not a vegetarian (Due to my mother not allowing me under her roof) Once I move out, I plan to become one. Though up until I turned 6, I was a vegetarian completely. I had to take vitamins and everything I didn't eat anything but fruits, vegetables, and dairy.
