Talking MBT shoes and a pedometer, 10,000 steps a day.

I know this isn't about vegetarianism per se, but it is about healthy living.

I just also wanted to share my latest finds that are personally life altering.

I had been going on more and more walks with my girlfriend on a regular basis and came across a book review about walking. It was about how to achieve 10,000 steps a day. Well, I figured we must be doing that or close when we went for our walks. Anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. So, then I started checking into pedometers. Never thought much about them. Did some research and bought an Omron--pretty much the top of line with great reviews. Plus you can upload your results to the computer for graphing and tracking.

Well, I'm addicted to it now. Our goal is 10,000 steps 5 days a week and so far, we've been hitting it. It takes us about an hour and forty-five minutes of fast walking to do it. Some days, I'm busy anyway and it gets up to 16,000+. I put it on as soon as I get dressed and forget about it. It works great. The 10,000 steps is about 5 miles or so.

But, I was using my standard old rather crappy sneakers along with dancing almost every night and soon I had a pretty big blister on the side of my big toe that wasn't going away. Time to invest in a good walking shoe. That's when I discovered the MBT shoes. Sneakers, actually. I tried them on in one store, but they didn't have my size. I have big feet. But even so, with a size too small, I could tell these things were amazing. I finally found a store with a good selection and my size. They are not just a comfortable shoe. They are different walking experience. The sole is kind of rounded. You end up kind of rocking in them just standing still. They change and correct your posture. They exercise different leg and core body muscles. Downside is they are extremely expensive: $250. But, what an incredible feeling wearing them. I just got them this weekend, so I don't have the long walk experience yet, but will report back.

I've heard good things about the MBT shoes, and the person I know that has them says they were well worth the extra money!!

I am so glad that someone posted on the MBT shoes! I have them and love to talk about them!

I was getting sort of lazy with my exercise routine and getting the MBT was a total boost in getting me going again — it is so much easier, fun and better for you than any other shoe I have ever used! THEY ARE JUST GREAT & AFTER THREE MONTHS OF WEARING THEM I FEEL BETTER TONED AND MORE FIT AND LIVELY!

I've done a lot research because I also was not happy about the high price of MBTs at the beginning -- NOW I KNOW THEY ARE TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY & MORE! It is really amazing what they have contributed to both my spirital and physical health in just three months.

Also, I wanted to let all of you know there is a great tool for professionally fitting MBTs online that I found if you go to CRE Loaded 6 - The Feet First MBT Store it is has much more precise information than the link you are giving. When I got my first pair: I traced my feet and faxed them in and CRE Loaded 6 - The Feet First MBT Store recommended which styles would be good for my feet and in which size… Now that the MBTs are looking better in design you are starting to see a lot of them down here along South Beach (where I live part of the year when I am not in Tel Aviv).

    Ciao from Miami! Kat

Yea! I'm so glad there are others out there! I'm sitting here working on getting my paperwork done, thinking, when can I go for a walk? I want to wear my shoes for a while!

My problem is, I'm a female size 11! I bought their largest size and I'm hoping they are big enough. I think the toes are just a tiny bit tight, so we'll see. If they are, I will take them into a shoe place and have them see about stretching the toe area a tiny bit for me. I tried the men's size, but the cut is different and not comfortable.

As a dancer, I'm also hoping that they will really help improve my posture. I feel that they do in the little I've worn them so far.

I wore them shopping yesterday and felt like I was practically bouncing around the store!

Re: MBT shoes and a pedometer, 10,000 steps a day.

A friend of mine is also size 11 (and has a bit of a wider foot) and she very happy with the MBT Sport White in size 43. One thing that I learned from the website I mentioned is that all the women's sizes have an incorrect sizing conversion on the boxes and on the shoes from European to US sizes.

For example I have always worn a European 39 and in US sizes that has always been a size 8. On my MBTs, the Wave, it says 39/ 8.5... which is incorrect... this is really an 8.

Anyway if you are not sure about your size FeetFirstFitness.com is really helpful -- better than any store I've been to in Miami plus they have the entire MBT product line... even some cool older models.

That was one thing I had forgotten to mention, being so caught up with the real results of the MBT -- it has also really helped adjust my posture. At the beginning when I didn't wear them I felt sort of slumped over... but now my posture is holding pretty well all the time without me even noticing it.

Happy Hurricane Season from down here! Kat

Here is the MBT Wave shoes I have and can't seem to want to take it off:
