Thumbs up Vegetarian Log, Recipes, and much more!

Ok so this a vegetarian log where we can post what we eat once in a while, recipes that are for vegetarians, and restraunts that have a vegetarian section etc.
Hopefully this will help people going veggy (or thinking about it) to stay veggy.

Re: Vegetarian Log, Recipes, and much more!

B: granola cereal w/milk (granola is great--adds protein, iron, vitamins, etc.)
L: veggie wrap (red pepper, romaine, cheddar cheese), milk, two peanut butter cookies (protein!)
D: spaghetti, home-made sauce, milk, a slice of cake

By the way, going veggie isn't all about giving up--you can find all sorts of wonderful fakes out there! TVP (textured veggie protein) is one, as are soy products. This is not yet a part of my diet because I haven't found a supplier as of yet.

Re: Vegetarian Log, Recipes, and much more!

Ok, I hope they're good. I have only looked at the top one as well, aside from a few glances at the rest to make sure they were appropriate. Any comments/suggestions on the sites would be great!

Cool! I wish that we had that "V" label here, then I wouldn't have to read every package.

Re: Vegetarian Log, Recipes, and much more!

I like some quorn products like the chicken (rather than beef) style burgers, but don't like things like the pieces of it or the mince (but I never really liked mince anyway!). I'm not generally a fan of products that are designed to taste/ feel like meat as the reaosn I don't have meat is because I don't like it!

If you're looking for a good veggie sausage in the UK, Cauldron Foods make the best ones in my opinion - they put Quorn and Linda McCartney to shame! The Lincolnshire and Cumberland style ones are my favourites.

In the food diary vein of things, yesterday I had....

Breakfast: Boiled eggs and toast
Lunch: Jacket potato with butter, cheese, salad and mixed pulses (Sainsbury's tinned mixed bean salad - love the stuff!)
Tea: Lentil and spinach curry with rice, and a yoghurt, cucumber and mint sauce for the side.
Snacks: Several pieces of fruit, some mixed nuts and some Thorntons chocolates

Re: Vegetarian Log, Recipes, and much more!

The only thing I've had that resembles meat (well... besides the fish, yuck!) was two veggie burgers. I can't even find those anywhere now; I searched in three stores with no luck. This stinks.
