Re: Vegetarian

For thanksgiving, you can just make fake meat by either buying it or making a TVP (textured vegetable protein) recipe. You really can have "meat", just not the real stuff.

Oh, and for dog toys, you can buy NylaBones. They love kongs, too! Stuff it w/peanut butter and they go nuts!

Re: Vegetarian

No, fish really shouldn't be. I've been eating it because I think it would be too much of a shock right now to switch instantly like I did for the meats and poultry. I need to find an appropriate food store yet, so I'm sort of on pastas and soups, veggie wraps for lunch, etc. It's tough to start out with, but once I find TVP or veggie burgers, I should be fine.

About the jello, yes it's icky. They boil pigs' skin and cows' hooves to get the gelatin part from what I remember. You don't *need* to give everything up, remember, to be vegetarian, only meats (and fish). You can also drink milk and eat eggs or not, your choice. To become vegan, you need to give up all the animal products: meats, fish, dairy, eggs, all animal products period.

Re: Vegetarian

As for shoes, you can check online for vegan suppliers. There's pleather, the alternative to leather, you can buy. So you want to go vegan, huh?

I still eat dairy products but I don't eat fish. My computer is being stupid and not letting me watch it.

Re: Vegetarian

Yeah, I know. That's why I'm only vegetarian. I don't think I could do that switch just yet.

l2t--I know how you feel. I made myself watch the whole thing, hands covering my face exept my eyes, tears streaming down my face... Whoever watches that and knows the truth and still eats meat--well, I guess you have to have my respect, because I just couldn't do it. I thought I could, but it's been over a year, and I felt increasingly worse for it.
