Saturated Fat? Hey all, This may seem like a silly question but is all saturated fat derived from animals? I've read that it comes from animal sources. I've looked in my kitchen and frozen vegetables, bread, rice all have saturated fats listed! If its true than what can I eat? Do these vegetable and plant items have animal products in them in the form of saturated fats? Thanks for any information.

Re: Saturated Fat? Saturated fat can come from dairy products or meat, but some vegetarian things such as oils (palm, coconut, cotton seed) and cocoa butter contain saturated fat also. Butter and cream contain a lot of saturated fat. I would think that if the product has no animal-derived ingredients listed, then the product is vegetarian-friendly (even if there are saturated fats).

Re: Saturated Fat? It's the "Hydrogenated" versions of those oils you need to look out for.
