Try doing some of the cooking for your family. Make vegi meals that are so tasty that they won't even miss the meat. There are lots of really good ones that use beans. Or how about cheese lazagna. Another option is something that uses turkey or chicken, which you said you can handle sometimes, but just cut it up in small pieces and don't use a lot of it. Then you can say, "Yes, their's meat in it," and won't be lieing. Something like Chicken al la King, (you could also ad tofu to this as the sauce will cover up the taste.

I am by no means a vegitarian, but I do not mind meals, cassaroles(sp), etc that don't have meat. In fact, when I cook on a regular basis, I try to incorporate meatless meals, since we can all stand to eat less of it.

I'm sure you can find vegi cookbooks at your local library too. Most people don't realize how many cookbooks they carry. Hope this helps.

Re: mmm veggies!

I LOVE the veggie burger at burger king! Its supposed to be Morningstar brand, which is a brand I buy at the grocery because its so good. They just switched to it in the past 2 years, so if you haven't tried it since awhile, its much better than it used to be.

I wouldn't eat regular McDonalds burgers either though, unless they made one they said was a veggie burger (I haven't been there in years but they don't the last I heard).

I live in the Midwest (and am that crazy rebel at times ). Not always the most accepting of places to be a vegetarian. I've been told some CRAZY things over the years. A lot of people around here seem to think that chicken is vegetarian. Yes, chicken! It's been such a challenge getting people over the idea that vegetarians only eat salad.

That's so funny!! For a long time when I would go out to dinner with a group of friends I would ask "Does this place have anything vegetarian?". Someone would always say "Oh yeah, they have salad!". Aargh!! I don't want salad, I want a meal!
