Where abouts in Scotland are you? http://www.pdsa.org.uk can help if you can prove you are on housing and/or council tax benefit, AND if you are within the catchment of a PetAid practice.

My boyfriend's parents were helping their friends build their B&B down just outside Hawick last week They might be able to help you a bit by subsidising a neutering rather than paying for all of it?

at least your parents had nicer weather for it last week

I will ask the pdsa if that is possible, but I have my doubts as they did say they dont do nueters, but its worth a shot!!
