Hand built Piggie Penthouses for sale!

    Hi everyone
We may be newbies but we're guinea pig mad! We started out with Monty and Murphy from babies, but sadly a month ago Monty died of Lymphoma at age 3 and a half. It hit Murphy hard as well as us, so we decided to adopt a rescue piggie from Crawley Guinea Pig Rescue. Thankfully we now have Millie who is around the same age and to help with the bonding process, we built a Piggie Penthouse for our standard 39in x 21.5in sized indoor cage.

We really enjoyed building our Piggie Penthouse and would like to offer the chance to supply the same to members that we can provide as a flat-pack with all holes for dowels/screws drilled and a diagram to follow - all you need to do is put it together! (Seven pieces of wood in total).

Our Piggie Penthouses are made from solid untreated European Redwood Pine - safe for Piggies to chew - and are held together with dowels (so no wood glue/cable ties etc) and a few screws (which are out of the piggies reach as these are recessed into the wood).

Piggie Penthouse total base is approx 20.5in length x 11.75in wide. The house itself (as an open cube shape) is 11.75in x 10.75in. We fill ours with hay which makes a lovely nest for the piggies and regularly clean this out with diluted soapy water which does the trick - but other piggie owners may wish to stick down Lino.
We've also attached an angled ramp which we've grooved for grip. Murphy our happy (if somewhat chubby) Piggie can still leap up to the Penthouse deck and he uses the ramp on the way down!

Both Murphy and Millie love the fact they have a great vantage point from the Piggie Penthouse above the usual plastic walls!

As you can see by the photos below, there's still plenty of room underneath the Piggie Penthouse, in what we've nicknamed the 'underground car park', plus room to run about in the rest of the cage.

We've made the Piggie Penthouse so that it will fit into a standard guinea pig cage (39in x 21.5in) and sit snug on the plastic guttering once 4x plastic lips for the metal cage are removed - this doesn't affect the structure.

If you're interested in ordering one of these Piggie Penthouses, they are £33 each all in - including Courier delivery to the UK.

Please PM or email for further details.
Thank you! Murphy and Millie's mum

Nice wood work since your handy with wood why not build them a bigger cage. That guinea pig cage is too small for one much less two gps. Pleace consider a c and c cage or wood and plexi glass. They are lots of pictures and ideas to enrich your piggies life in the photos section. or you can purchase grids for c and c cage at walmart, target, ebay ect please do this for your pigs they will thank you for it. thanks for sharing those would look awesome in a c and c cage.

That cage is far beyond being too small for two pigs. Please see the homepage for cage size recommendations. Two pigs should be housed together in a cage that is no less than 7.5 square feet. The cage you are exhibiting is much too small for those pigs.

ETA: I see you are selling just the wood thing, not the cage. I agree that the wood is a great idea if it is safely made for a larger, preferably C&C style cage.

Wouldn't the wood eventually go bad from urine?
