It's better to have a larger age descrepency between them (one adult one baby for example) because then dominance isn't as big of an issue (though the baby still might get tantrumy when he hits puberty).

Also make sure you Quarentine your new guy for at least three weeks before you put him in with your current GP.

Re: Need advice on putting two guineas together

Can I just ask where are you getting your second piggy from? As I noticed your in wales im from south wales and know of two very good rescue centres. The one you can take your piggy there and she will pair it up with a suitable piggy for yours. Or if she dont have one at the time you can always go back, she is very good. Let me know if you want the names.

Re: Need advice on putting two guineas together

How old is your piggy? It would be best to get a young guinea pig if your guinea pig is over a year to prevent fighting. When you get the new piggy you need to do quarentine first. To do that you need to keep the new pig in a different room with the doors closed and you need to wash your hands and change clothes after holding the new pig. (I know this sounds a little crazy but it is to make sure the new pig isnt sick and wont make the other pig sick) You do this for three weeks (someone corect me if I am wrong) Then (after 3 weeks of quarentine) to introduce them you need to find a netural teritory (somewhere where neither pig has been, so no cage, maybe a hallway?) Then you put both pigs in there with food in the middle. Then you watch. They WILL nip at each other, sniff butts, chase each other, wheek loudly, ect. But ONLY seperate them if you see blood. If all goes well for the first day then put them back in seperate cages and do the same the next day (keep doing this for about a week and if they are still friendly to each other then you can put them in the same cage). If you see blood, then seperate them and try again the next day. If this still doesn't work the on last resort you can try giving them a bath together. If you do this and use shampoo then use a small animal shampoo (I would recomend four paws bunny bath). And only give them a bath together on last resort because the point of it is to stress them into being friends.
