Anyone else annoyed with the royal mail people? This week I ordered 3 different things. All were left on the doorstep without any notice, one was even a signed for delivery. I was in, my mum was in and so was my brother.. why didn't the post man even bother to ring the door bell? After all I specifically paid for "Sign for" delivery.. I paid for it, the poster sent it as that but I didn't get to sign for it! This morning I was standing at the door putting my coat on, post men drops letters through the box and them dumps my parcel on the doorstep without even ringing the door bell, could he not see I was there? This is not the first time this has happened either, we've even complained but the post man continues to just dump our parcels and not let us know they are there. All I can say is thank god my doorstep is covered, otherwise with all this rain my presents would have been ruined. Another thing, red rubber bands.. every where. ![]()

Re: Royalmail- the post men! It doesn't happen to me so much in my new place but was a nightmare in my last flat. The postie would just stick a card through the door regardless of whether or not I was in and one day I caught him doing it! He actually had the cheek to say he'd rung the bell (he hadn't) and that because I didn't answer I'd have to go to the depot to pick up my parcel. I kicked up a stink on the spot and informed him that I'd go to his boss and let him know that he did this not just to us but to our neighbours as well. What's the point in paying extra for a "signed for" service if you can't sign for it! Arrrgh!

Re: Royalmail- the post men! Grrr - you're not alone! I get tons of red cards, even though I clearly mark 'please leave with any neighbour, or in shed' - all of my neighbours are happy to take in a parcel! I mark 'or in shed', because we have had things ruined by being left at the back door - or simply shoved under the back gate, here I might not see them for a couple of days. I once had a parcel with items worth over £60 left at the front door. While we live in a quiet cul-de-sac, and my neighbours are all trustworthy, we still get strangers wandering up and down! The worst experience was when I ordered 2 big bags of Timothy from Thisatle Cavies. We were away when it arrived, and when I got home, there was a note to say 'parcel in bin'...they had put it in the wheelie bin!!! My good neighbour, thinking there was rubbish in our bin put it out!!! I complained and it hasn't happened since - at least it would have been dry!

Re: Royalmail- the post men! I feel sorry for you. My mail amn will ring my door bell, and if he doesn't get an answer he will see if the door is open and set it on the counter for me, he knows that I am there and that I am probably running after my 3 yr old. He has been known to leave things on the front stoop. But it is blocked and you cant see anything from the road out front. (I also live in a very small town with less that 5,000 people)

Re: Royalmail- the post men! I can't say I've had that problem where I am now, but I had where I lived before. So I went to the local post depot and told his boss, he got a right telling off. Needless to say it didn't happen again.

Re: Royalmail- the post men! What do you think he'd do if I opened the door and went "Excuse me, why did you leave my sign for on the doorstep?" Any takers betting that he would say "Sorry but I did ring the doorbell." ? diane, you really let your mail man just enter by himself? Honestly these days I wouldn't even let a police man wander in my house.

Re: Royalmail- the post men! I would do that. My dad (who is a postman) opened the door once when our postman left a parcel on our doorstep whilst we were there and really called him up on it.

Re: Royalmail- the post men! When I lived in England my postman did the same as Diane's. We have had the same man for years and he lives down the same street but one day he just started opening the door and leaving the parcel inside our house. Now I see the benefits to this and we don't mind but maybe if he had asked if he could do it first! It seems common practice now, it was just a bit weird hearing the front door opening and not knowing what was happening.

Re: Royalmail- the post men! I ordered some shilintong off ebay from china about a month ago, signed for of course as it was coming a long distance. It finally arrived this morning and it was left on the door step again! I wasn't in but my Mum was and she said that he didn't ring the door bell... AGAIN! Apparently she's complained twice already so maybe third times the charm? On another note, I waited a month for this shilintong for my bladder stone pig, got well excited this morning when it arrived! Opened it up to find facial cream... I am going to go to bed and cry now.

Re: Royalmail- the post men! *hugs* for Rachy. The Australian Postal Service can be pretty dodgy at times, I order Oxbow hay + Pellets off ebay (pay extra for a sign on delivery too) and they continually just leave a note so we have to drive the 45 minutes (one way!) to the post office to pick it up. I complain they smile and say they will pass it along, but so far...no improvement. And I'm really p****** off today, ordered my Stargate DVD off ezydvd.com.au, arrived today and looks like it's been beaten to death by a baseball bat (limited edition collectors tin) despite the 'Fragile' and 'Handle with Care' stickers plastered all over it. BAH!

Re: Royalmail- the post men! Aertyn! You watch Stargate too.. whoohoo! Have you seen the Ark of Truth yet? I have, it was good! My parcel arrived from China again today with the right stuff. YAY! But it was another signed for delivery that was left on the step, I wasn't in but my Mum and Brother was.. knock god dammit!! Grr.. Funny thing was I ordered some treats off hay experts, not signed for but he knocked on the door for that. WHY!?
