Ezi Filla bottles

I just bought a 500ml Ezi Filla water bottle off eBay. I saw them used at the rescue I volunteered at 2 years ago, but since I had a bottle that worked (Savic Biba) I wasn't really interested in them.

But, my ever-so-precious but slightly annoying Lottie pig keeps pulling the spouts out of them. When she drinks, she hooks her teeth in the spout and pulls. 6 months of that every day and voila - bang goes the spoutless bottle on the floor. I can put the spout back in but it's loose so can still be pulled quite easily.

So, I need to replace the bottles. I have nowhere to buy these bottles from any more, so decided to invest in Ezi Filla. Until I've seen if the pigs take to this new style of bottle, I won't replace all the current ones. Ezi Fillas aren't exactly cheap either, but they should last. They might also be suitable for travelling, since it's not a ball-bearing bottle - very useful given the journey we are facing with 5 pigs in the next few weeks! It will also stop silly drinkers like Lottie pulling on the spout, thus risking breaking her teeth.

I will update once I've tested it out. I do hope they take to them because the Savic Biba ones with the extra-long spout are the only ones that suit certain pigs drinking habits!

Yes we have one of these and it is very good. He seems to be selling a guinea pig specific valve. If you are getting one of these could you report how well it works?

I use a bottle very similar to this, it's made by Furplast. Another member uploaded info on it here:

Yes they are almost exactly the same, althought the Hopewell ones are opaque which stops and algae growing.

That's useful, I may have to look into these. There isn't any algae in them but prevention is better that cure I guess!

Re: Ezi Filla bottles

The bottle came in the post a couple of days ago. I think its great. The pigs, not so. I have resorted to removing their normal bottles periodically until they figure this one out. I've showed them how to use it but Tuppy got water up her nose and Charlie just licked the water off my hand.

Re: Ezi Filla bottles

I saw another link to these a while back, but didn't get one, as the site also sells breeder racks for small animals. Have a couple of the Ferplast sippies though (though one leaks constantly), but have found the very best bottle to be the ones I bought from Wendi at Thistle when we were last up:

Cosy Beds, Houses ,Cage Acs & Feeding bowles etc.

Though it's back to the ball-bearing bottle, I am really pleased with their easy-accessability and performance so far (and it's also another donation to Thistle!)

Re: Ezi Filla bottles

Jane, how long is the spout and does it attach to the C&C grids ok? Those are my two main issues with bottles!

Re: Ezi Filla bottles

Spout is longer than the 'normal' type (will get ruler out and let you know!), it attaches great to the grids - there is a semi circular plastic loop which fits around the bottle (just lift it out for refilling) and the attachment is similar to the ferplast in that you screw a plastic 'bolt' into the 'nut' on the loop, catching the cross of the grids in between. Easier by far than the Ferplast, can be used inside or outside the cage (with spout sticking through) and violet in shade, so less light gets to the water.

Sorry short answers here - time is also short at the mo!

Re: Ezi Filla bottles

I bought one of theese at the weekend to see if they liked it. I then came across this thread, what a coincidence.

I put it in Winky and Kofi's cage, they really love it. I put it at the top of the cage as they usually only drink from their downstairs bottle. However since I introduced the ezifilla they only drink from it, even though their old preferred bottle is still the same and in the same place.

So I reckon that I will replace their other one and try Marley and Molly with one next month.

xx
