I got Oliver accidentally with nail clippers, now he's bleeding a bit. I don't have styptic powder here, does anyone know of a substitute, or something ekse I can do to stop the bleeding? WHat about infection when he is running around in the litter?

I use cornstarch. I think others might also use flour. He should be fine, just keep an eye on it.

Corn starch should work, had to do that with our cat once or twice. Not sure about infection.

Cornstarch is a great idea, thanks. Only, the wound seems to have stopped bleeding now, so I dont know if there is much point now to the corn starch. How can I keep it clean? Can I use rubbing alcohol?

Don't use rubbing alcohol. If it's just the nail being cut too short, it should be fine once the bleeding stops.

Do NOT use rubbing alcohol, put some on your cuts, it burns horribly.

If your worried do some foot baths in warm, guinea pig safe soapy water to clean off any poop or other grime. Also you can do that with a wash cloth (don't use baby wipes)

Dang, I hope he still trusts me. He seems to still want to be picked up and do lap time. I feel so bad...:( Anything I can do for him?
