Well, I've been looking around YouTube and found out about Leopard Geckos. I adore them but they don't look to be as much fun as a guinea pig. I was just wondering if anyone here owns any snakes, geckos or any type or reptile!:D I would love to see pictures of your reptiles too! Thanks lol

This is Muz

He is a murray river turtle. We have two, in separate tanks.
You can't cuddle or groom or pet them, but they are interesting to watch and rarely stay still! :D
Though they make a mess of any plant you put in the tank, and find great pleasure in chasing and eating any small fish also!

Here is a picture of my two girls. BC and Scooter (left to right) This picture is several years old. They are now over 11 years old. They live in 150 gallon "Show" tank Their basking platform is a 50 lb piece of slate. They are Red Ear Sliding turtles (Trachemys scripta elegans)

Red Ear Sliders are another one of those "throw away pets" that are sold in pet shops with all the wrong advice and equipment. Both these girls are rescues from bad situations. BC I thought was not going to live when I got her She had a horrible case of "Shell Rot" She lost over 95% of her Carapace and Plastron down to the quick to this infection. I had her "dry docked" for over 6 weeks and had to teach her how to swim again when she finally had enough shell to go in deep water again. To this day I have to help her shed her Scutes since due to the infection they do not shed off properly. Did you know Red Ear Sliders can only eat under water?

I used to own corn snakes. :) Easter, a beautiful snow corn, and Friday, a stunning red albino. :) Friday somehow got out of her enclosure and spent the winter outside. She wasn't found until some workmen were putzing around with pipes under my house, and they were startled and threw her before realizing she was obviously a pet snake (not that people should throw ANY snake but just to clarify that's how I found her -- they came to tell me they'd found her). She never recovered and died within a few days. Easter was with me for about 15 years. Whenever I have the time, I'd like to own a milk snake or another corn. Milk snakes are so pretty, but corns are very mild-mannered and so colorful.

I currently own a ball python and 2 leopard geckos. They are fun in a different way lol I find the act of feeding the geckos (well, and my fire bellied toads) very relaxing and entertaining. They are easy animals to own at the same time because they eat the same things so I just buy lots of worms and crickets.

Oh and our geckos are named Meatball and Grumpy lol

I have a male yellow belly slider. Well its suppose to be my husbands but I'm the one who did all the research, takes care of it and well just about everything. Merlin is 2 years old, will live to be 30+ years old and is such a sweety, to me anyway. He hisses at everyone else LOL.

4 months after we got him:

And now:

His "glamor" shot.

Look at how long his front nails got, this is one of their indicators that he is in fact a male. All male sliders have long front claws to hold onto the female, they should NEVER be cut.

I have an iguana, he's a rescue and will be leaving soon, I used to have leopard geckos and several kinds of snakes. Right now I've got a yellow belly slider turtle, Poseiden, and they're interesting pets. Leopard geckos require a lot but they're quite interesting and I loved mine.

I had a leopard gecko a couple of years ago. She lived to be about twenty four. Her name was Lola :)
She was a very easy pet to care for and fun to watch...I think you'll enjoy reptiles, especially at feeding time!!!

This is Peaches. I got her as a baby 17 years ago, 18 this upcoming July. She lives in a 75gal with some resident goldfish (she'll give them a good chase sometimes, but never kills them off unless they're primarily white in color - I don't know where her vendetta against the white goldfish came from >_<) - she much prefers to gobble down her pellets, greens, etc. She's a fun gal to live with. She hops off her basking platform and says hello when I come home and will follow me around the room usually (don't worry, she's well-fed). She'll rest her paws on my hands when I'm tinkering in her tank, never nips at me, etc. Need to get some close-ups of her when I hold her sometime, she's cute.

And this is Jack, the African Bullfrog. I adopted him about a year ago now, so I think that puts him at around ~1.5/2 years old now. He eats crickets and nightcrawlers mostly. I just started implementing pinkies in his diet (once a month tops, as a treat) last month.

As for leopard geckos, I don't have them personally, but I care for some. They're pretty whiny when they're young, but they seem to mellow out some as they get older with regular handling. They're low maintenance and it's kind of fun to watch them hunt.

And props to Soopermum for taking such awesome care of her turtlebabies. :)

I tried the hermit crabs when I was a wee little kid and that didnt turn out very well. I ended up crying, I think I got pinched or something and my parents soon returned them. Your hermit crabs must be very spoiled and well looked after! I'd be a hermit crab if you were my owner :D

I used to have a bearded dragon. It was an amazing experience! He had such a personality. He loved to be with me. I used to take him out of his tank and wrap up in my heated blanket with him on my tummy. He would sleep like that for hours. He was so awesome. I would definitely recommend one to someone looking for a reptile. :)

I have a leopard gecko named Gizmo. We had to choose something gender neutral, since you can't tell whether it's a boy or a girl until they're 2 years old. The only exception to this is if you go to an experienced breeder. Since sex is determined by the incubating temperature, they can sell you either a boy or a girl. I have Gizmo in a 20 gal long tank. 599212_4215948123767_1208332443_n.jpg You can choose different types of bedding and stuff like that, but I just use paper towels and he loves it. (I usually say he, but again, he's only 1, so I can't tell for sure). This picture was taken about 3 months after I got him, so he was still quite small, he's about twice that size now. :) I think that they're a great choice, low maintenance for sure.
