When is a guinea pig an adult?

In regards to feeding, when is a guinea pig an adult?
How old should I start limiting the amount of pellets they have.

Also, if I have one at limited pellet age, and one below, how do I feed them to make sure the younger one gets enough, and the older one does not get too much?

And is it 1/4 cup pellets per day per adult guinea pig?

They are considered adults at 6 months as far as feeding goes. I'm not sure how to make sure the younger one is getting enough. Perhaps you can take him out for his own floor time with his own bowl of pellets?

Yes it is 1/8 to 1/4 a cup per adult pig. You'll also want to switch from alfalfa based pellets to timothy based pellets with an adult.

I have a 4 month old sharing a cage with two adults. I just free feed. I know it isn't the best thing for the older ones, but really, two more months of them free feeding isn't going to do as much damage as a little one not getting enough nutrition in these very important months.
