Hey guys,
I need help.
a few weeks ago I had four guinea pigs but one mysteriously died. When it was taken out of the cage it had bite marks on its ear which I put down to fighting etc.
today another one has died but it looks like it has been attacked aggressively as it had a hole in its head :-( when my partner went to take it out of the cage one of the remaining guinea pigs was eating at it.
now I'm so lost because they are feed many times a day with various foods.
ive always know for guinea pigs to be herbivores so I don't understand why this would be happening.

It sounds like your cage is too small. How big is it?

That not large enough for four pigs, especially if you've got furniture in there. The age of the pigs may have something to do with it, as well. Boars in puberty need a lot more room than if they're younger or older, so if you've got boars that are six months to two years of age, they'll need more room. How old are your pigs?

Have you taken them to a vet? They may have some sort of infection that's caused both deaths, and your remaining two may be at risk. And yes, they are herbivores, but a few of them will pick at a carcass if it has wounds on it.

I have an appointment on Wednesday to take them to the vet.
i got them when they were about a month old, which would make them around 4 to 5 months old.
would the catch be suitable for the remaining 2?

If it's outside is there any chance something else could be getting into the cage and biting them? Or do you mean it's in an enclosed sunroom?

Enclosed sunroom. It's like a extra room of the house but is completely open (has fly screen material all around the walls as an open area)

The cage will be plenty large enough for two pigs.

Are you sure something like an insect, rat or snake isn't getting in there? Personally, I'd move the cage from the sun room into the house where you can keep an eye on them.

The first thing I thought was a snake myself but there hasn't been any signs of anything like that as I have other pets and all seem fine.
I think I might move them in side so they are away from any danger as I got them all from a person who just bred them like they were nothing and honestly didn't tell me anything about them.
i so worried about them because I don't want to lose anymore and I've grown attached to them so much.
i could just go on and on about them, but to make sure it's nothing I'm doing I am looking threw everything eg. Their diet

That's 2 square metres, double the recommended amount on the front page of this website?

That's plenty large for 4 females, but not for 4 adolescent boars.
